Despite the prediction of a crazy weekend, all but one ranked teams beat either the unranked or lower ranked teams. Some of the win margins and how closely some games went still make a few of the rankings very suspect - looking at the texican pretenders and Toss U most closely for being overrated in that category - Navy and MO on the other end. While it's really nice seeing MO in the ditch, their problem may be due more to injury; this is the time of the season when depth really starts showing its ugly head for wannabe teams.

Iran has a drone cruising up and down the Persian Gulf; somebody should shoot it down just for kicks. Think I get grumpy when we don't play football - especially when teams I really dislike like ND, OSU, TX (and most of the rest) play and win.

One of the best comments I've seen regarding the football rankings nonsense is this one.

Can’t understand why people and the models are so high on teams like Clemson, Texas, Penn St and Miami who between them have beaten absolutely no one. Seriously, the best win of the lot of them is between USC, Michigan and Louisville? Seems like your reward for either scheduling soft (or getting lucky when usually decent teams are cratering). I think the committee might have a completely different view than the journalists and talking heads with Texas down around 10 and Penn St and Miami outside the top 5.

This year has some of the worst scheduling we've seen since the 1800s when tOSU played HS teams. Looks to be a spinoff of the NC scam. Gotta win at all costs to be a contender, but the contenders don't have to have much legitimacy other than not loosing. The worst thing the SEC could do to itself is add a ninth conference game - that's Russian roulette with a full cylinder.

Hope this 1st game isnt indicative of things to come lol. We dont need another horrible shooting basketVols team. Last year was great...a break from the mold of recent teams at UT that play great defense but shoot like drunk women. Knecht made last season different, and Barnes brought in a sharpshooter that averaged about 20ppg vs lesser competition last year to try and replace Knechts scoring. This current team shot 25% in the 1st half and like 15% from 3.

That team went one game farther in the tourney. I trust Barnes. The tourney is a crap shoot. He's done great in SEC and SEC tourney play. For this game he sat Chaz Lanier's ass for the final 6 minutes. Why? Bc he wasn't delivering on D. Great message to the guy

Agree 100%. On all counts. Hope Lanier can pick up most of Knechts missing scoring.

Barnes is my favorite Bball coach by far. Would rather have him than anyone else, for several reasons. Its truly amazing to have Barnes, Vitello, and Hype all at the same time. Tennessee really is the "everything school" and thats a great PR message.
