Update: lawyer apparently told her she's SOL. Doesn't seem right to me but shows what I know.

Did she receive a COBRA notice? Or, did the husband intercept the notice? Don't know exactly what impact it would have, but something worth exploring.

When do you qualify for COBRA exactly, because they are still married and divorce has yet to be filed. He dropped her at open enrollment in December.
