Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Damn .., our shooting today

Chaz Lanier is our leading scorer. Averages almost 20 a game...18 points i think. He was 1 for 6 from 3pt vs Kentucky...and the one he made didnt matter bc we were up by 15 in the 2nd half when he made one. He started this game right after tipoff with an airball from about the free-throw line. After warm-ups. After all those shots. 1st shot of the game AIRBALL 2 feet short. The guy who is now the all time single season 3pt record holder at UT....airballls a freaking 12footer. He just missed another 3 a minute ago.

Gainey is on fire. Carrying this team. Lanier is a NO SHOW for the 2nd game in a row.

Edit: Barnes has Lanier on the bench. Good. Has last game at UT riding the pine?

Chaz is 3 for 15 from the field.

Choked under pressure. Last game, this game. Cant wait to see his c o mbined stats from the last 2 games. SMDH

GAINEY has carried this team. He has played very well all year. Great 6th man

Good grief man. Houston has hit 3 trees in a row. We had 2 chances to make a bucket and cut the lead to 8 or 9 points ...now we are down 17 again. We can't buy a 3ball. They can't miss. Fat lady warming up her pipes.

Didnt know that Houston has been to the F4 seven times. I remember their Championship season with Drexler and Olajuwon. Hard to believe that little school is about to be in their 8th final 4...and we have never been.

Houston did not win a championship with Olajuwon and Drexler. They lost to Jim Valvano's NC State Wolfpack in the finals. That was 1983.

Not a Bad season overall. wish we could have played better and be competitive for a final four appearance. We don't have a superstar and it's hard to win the game of basketball without one of those. Barnes is a good coach and I'm glad he's at ut. We can stay competitive for as long as he is here and then hopefully upgrade when he retires.

Wow. Thanks for correcting that bud. I remember hearing about "Phi Slamma Jamma" etc. So they got upset by the Pack. I turned 6 years old in 1983. 😆 is that the same Pack team that had an All ACC forward, David something? Too young to remember those details.

Edit: nope. Looked it up. David Thompson was on NCSU 1st champion team in 1974. Almost a decade before 83...

We needed Knecht this season when there’s no mongoloid to contend with.

Btw...they showed a stat with maybe 3mins left. Chaz Lanier had 22 points total in all 4 games of MM. He had 3 free-throws and a 3pt (finally) after that. So roughly 28 points in 4 games. No way in Hell we win vs top 5 teams when Chaz is colder than a polar bears toenails. He averaged about 7 points per game over the 4 games in MM. Thats why he got benched IMO.

There is a great documentary of that 83 NC State Wolfpack team's season on Netflix called "Survive and Advance." I was the ripe old age of 11 for that tournament.
