Ha ha. Kids. I was playing basketball in the 60s thru the 80s. Tried to keep the streak alive in the late 90s and ruptured my Achilles tendon. Now I have the thought in the back of my mind that it could break again, so I had to slow down.

Yep, my NBA hopes have faded away. :)

Im not sure anyone's confidence was wavering, its just everyone started freaking out over a Terry Fair quote lol.

I dont think anyone expects Gruden to say yes and ink paper when Dooley is still the HC. It would be bad etiquette, really bad.

With that said, agreements in principle are not looked at the same as signing agreements :)

I'm the same as I was. Anything can happen during these things, but I'd be shocked at this point. Step 1 is complete. When Step 2 is done, that clears the way for 3 and ultimately 4.....which is what we are all waiting on.

There was a hiccup, but was understandable. It's not an issue IMO.

Would they do that without having his replacement ready to take over?? Like you said nothing is set in stone as far as a done deal on Gruden. What if he (Gruden) backs out? You can not bring strong or smart in here, and fas get excited.

I am not trying to say you don't know(I hope you are right)

Damn right it will... I pray to god this all comes true. Sick of hearing my penn state buddies and my one bama buddy ride me about how bad we and our coach sucks.. it would be nice to throw this in their face..

I'm not speculating....I'm relaying. I do not have the answer to all of your questions....wish I did.

Its a risk for sure, but a risk that is worth it. If Gruden said no or backed out, is Dooley still the guy? NO! So if thats the case, swing for the fences for once. If it doesnt work there are a dozen or more serious upgrades to Dooley out there that would kill for a job in the SEC.

Fans will be ecstatic for Gruden....but in the event it doesnt work out, Dooley is still done. No reason to stretch out the pain especially in a year where several big $$$ schools are also going to be looking.

The thing guaranteed to excite the fans the LEAST out of all scenarios is a Dooley 2013.

We'll continue to see the media grab ahold of this as info is let out. Once Dooleys release is announced we'll be told of a coaching search. The new hire won't be immediately announced.....could be a couple of weeks.

People were talking about how you cannot wait too long and if an agreement is in place it should be days not weeks or months. A very long period of "limbo" would not help the recruiting effort. At least thats how I hope it goes down in the end.

I think they feel the need to make this more palatable to the media and general public.

Mid November I would think.....before the HS All Star games.....gives two and a half months to wrap.up recruiting. Everybody involved wants to avoid looking like this was done in a hurry, or prematurely.
