Here's a question to any of you people (Grudenites). Let's say Gruden is made coach of the Vols... if he does no better than Dooley in his first 2 years....will you call for his head too?
I say only 2 years because the program is now off the bottom where Phil and Lane left it, and now just needs to be coached up...so what say Grudenities.

1. It will be hard to match how bad Dooley's record is since he became coach.
2. Dooley hasn't done enough here or at Louisiana Tech to warrant the patience that people such as yourself give him. Gruden at least has some gravitas.
3. The question you ask is a question you could ask of any coach: Lombardi, Gruden, Majors, Dooley, Mullen, Fulmer, etc. Dooley's record would not make anyone happy over the next two years, no matter who is the coach, unless they are very sheepish.
4. It also depends on the progress and discipline on the field... the earmarks of a well coached team. If a team loses, but you can see they are getting better discipline-wise and that they are well coached, most fans figure that when the talent gets recruited, that the wins will come.
So in short, you can be afraid of failing with the next guy, but I would rather take a chance on someone who has won, than continue on with a loser.
The irony in this post is pretty thick.
I called him a loser. How is that endorsing him?
Maybe you didn't understand me. Let me make it clear. I would rather take a chance with a coach who is a proven winner (Gruden) than continue with a proven loser (Dooley).
I'll suit up! I am about the right size to play in the backfield (5'10" 210lbs). Never been timed on the 40. I do run a 1330 2 mile time.
I got it the first time, you want change...
Try to formulate an answer to this question...Yes or No...
Would you call for Gruden's dismissal if they went 7-5, 7-5 over his first 2 years? Or are you enamored with his college coaching record to feel he should be given 3-4-5 years to fix this mess that CDD has created?
Members of the Gruden Cult.
You missed that movie huh? Huge irony.
