generally, I would say you are correct, but a firing at midseason also has lots of benefits. Such as an open coaching search, an open recruiting period for the new coach if hired early in the offseason or during season.

The way things have gone the past several YEARS, I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing is made up and we are stuck with Dooley another year.
