I guess dont take what I said too seeiously. There are ways around the timing issue.

Just wanted to make sure if you saw some misdirection you wouldnt immediately freak out.

More so on thw interviewing of other coaches.

The university has a process to follow.

Spring, thanks for all the info. If our biggest problems as fans are worrying about how long the job must be posted, then we must be alright. Keep up the great work! And happy thanksgiving everyone!

I work for the state of Kentucky. Up here it is required a minimum of 3 people be interviewed for a position and the job has to be posted for 10 business days.

That is the STANDARD procedure.....there are ways around that process.

I agree doc. He is terrible

He is so condescending and I hate his dadblamed and dadgummit.....and seems to have no real comprehension of sports in general. Of course, I shouldn't nitpick about that...he is only employed by a SPORTS STATION

Good morning everybody and Happy Thanksgiving!

As a long time State Employee, I have to agree with OSV on the hiring of the coach. I don't believe football coaches fall under the same criteria as other state employees and I'm pretty sure this was researched heavily on VN during the Dooley hire. I can guarantee you that if it did fall under the same criteria, the maximum salary would be nowhere close to even One Million dollars. JMO

Newby here! I have been reading and enjoying the different personalities on this thread.

As others have mentioned, also pay attention to what is NOT being said! No denials from AD or Gruden's posse.

Wouldn't it be in the best interest of the university to squash this rumor if not true? Otherwise, any other coach announced would be anti-climatic! UT needs a strong hire to strengthen and expand the fan base. They can't afford another blunder! If the rumor was false they would be spinning another coach that they are targeting. Instead...SILENCE!

Good point and good first post.

Not only is it going to happen, there has been little to no doubt of it for weeks. Despite reports to the contrary, JG has always wanted to get back into coaching in the right situation and the UT job has always been mentioned by him and his inner circle.

If you have an elite coach available that has ties and sincere interest - give him what he needs. The cash registers will ring and the university restored in the eyes of the general public.

Possible. Especially if Kiffin gets the boot, which is being talked about happening in the next 1-2 years.

But Fisher loves the state of TN. And is very unhappy in St Louis NOW.

The timing would work out I think.

How the hell is he unhappy. When looking for team, he negotiated control in the front office and St. Louis was the team that gave that to him. The Rams are clearly improved from the last year. They have three losses that was one possession away from winning. Fisher, from what I've heard through a friend of his son, is very happy at St. Louis and is looking on staying there. The next move he would make is back to the Titans if the Adams family ever dumped the team after Bud passes away.

I'm off for the day....I only know you guys from your posts but, save for a few douches...you know who you are:), you guys are awesome. HAPPY THANKSGRUDEN TO ALL..even the buzzkillers

You are right. For instance, I have never donated to UT athletics, but I have the Tennessee Fund website in my favorite places and I will be making my first donation the day after Gruden is announced. Even if you can only give $10, you should show your support.
