This might be a really dumb question and has probably been answered a countless number of times (just haven't found it through all the posts), but when we are talking about a college coach having more "control" over a football program... What does that mean? I get an NFL coach wanting "control" by having the final say in what free agents to go after, players to draft, etc. A college coach will recruit who he wants. That is one example that I am confused on. I guess maybe to hire and fire from his respective staff? TIA for an answer.

More latitude on getting kids like Eldrick Lofton into school and keeping kids like I. Lanier. There seems to be a gulf between the AD and academic support. Gruden doesn't want to have to grovel for admission help if a kid is qualified to get into school. That is small example.
