This might be a really dumb question and has probably been answered a countless number of times (just haven't found it through all the posts), but when we are talking about a college coach having more "control" over a football program... What does that mean? I get an NFL coach wanting "control" by having the final say in what free agents to go after, players to draft, etc. A college coach will recruit who he wants. That is one example that I am confused on. I guess maybe to hire and fire from his respective staff? TIA for an answer.

I assume it is the fact it seems Gruden wants to be his own AD when it comes to football, or that is how I have heard it termed during the conversation I posted about.

More latitude on getting kids like Eldrick Lofton into school and keeping kids like I. Lanier. There seems to be a gulf between the AD and academic support. Gruden doesn't want to have to grovel for admission help if a kid is qualified to get into school. That is small example.

This seems like it could be worked out if we want Gruden here
