think about it.. the more coaching prospects that get taken off the table, the better the end result will be. We will be "forced buyers" of a big name. Our program, and the Knoxville economy cant go another 5 years like this. We have the money and the people who can get more...
For Gruden, what job are you being groomed for? Seriously. Do you know of any other offers he has? Dallas - no way he is working with Jones. Not gonna happen. He had that setup and TB and got HOSED. San Diego - maybe, but thats going to be a rebuild and moving family AGAIN. Some big names have failed there and honestly, big named players have wanted to steer clear of there (Manning, etc). They are a mediocre program, always will be. Philly - gimme a break?! You think Cindy Gruden wants to live on the Mainline? Ugggggh. No way. Sorry. And you think Gruden wants that QB situation. Yeah right. Disaster.
Tennessee could be a 10 year, rest of his career move. He would be a superstar and know that a big enough bet and Tennessee would be with him thru thick or thin because he can coach, sell his experience/NFL ties, and even if he has a down year... you have to hang with him because of the budget. ***And*** the deal has to assure him the longevity and profitability he wants in case it doesnt go as planned. His brand will be hurt some. He might not get the next shot in the NFL if for some (outrageously small) reason it doesnt go well. He has to make sure you lock him up, but he has the wiggle room to move on if he wants to after 3 or 4 yrs.
Honestly, if he gets our program back to the status it was... whats the harm that he moves on?
Who else, even if they stay a short time, could possibly turn us around that fast? He knows we are in a position to pay a premium. We need this turned.. and fast!!!
So everyone please put down the swords and pistols, and lets just let things play out. Maybe hes playing cards here, to see what we do. Going nuts, kicking and crying, isnt going to help our cause.
