My best guess is we have a press release tomorrow announcing the hire so we get coverage for the weekend during games. Then we have official PC beginning of next week so national media can be involved for the big show. Thats my hope anyway.

I agree...the only logical choice is Gruden at this point. it just has to be!! Anything else at this point will make us the biggest joke in the SEC. This is soooo doable....esp after what Ohio State pulled off with Urban Meyer!!! I certainly think OSU is on the same level as UT! Infact they should be about dead even!!!!

we are already the biggest joke in the SEC nowhere to go but up with Gruden.....laterally with anyone else

So the plane from Auburn they have been tracking was in Arkansas and Texas yesterday (Malzahn and Patterson). Went to Boise (Petterson) today and then flew to Tuscaloosa (???). Meanwhile no news from Knoxville,

I think the Boise visit is a misnomer. It would be Petrino going to Boise from Helena. Clearly everyone is going to think Peterson though.

Havent been on these boards in a few years but got curious with the Gruden thing...Wow! Things have been busy!
(Below info and my ID can be verified by kiddiedoc and Freak)

1. The OG's as you call them have told you accurately. Their info lines up with what I had been told several times via a prominent booster with "unique" knowledge of this process along with corroborating secondary sources. I shared some of this information with the aforementioned Mods.

2. Gruden hire has been in the works for quite a while.

3. He agreed to become our next HC or around Oct 24 (when I received the text message).

4. This was reaffirmed to me as recently as Thanksgiving, i.e. "Gruden is done…"

5. Talks of "meetings" and what not falling through makes little sense under this context. A process that has already been agreed to in principle, and carried this far, would not be relying on an interview into December to “discuss the possibility” of this or that. He could have politely said no anywhere along the line weeks or even months ago.

6. Whatever else might remain, if anything, must be either a) legal stuff that simply takes a little work, b) he has a timeline that must be fit for reasons we are not necessarily privy to, or c) he backed out at the last minute. The rest it just noise. And unless he backed out in his sleep, and no one told anyone, the deal is still on.

7. The idea that Hyams and Hubbs got wind of a "special meeting" at the same time, of which they had no prior knowledge of, with a “non-candidate,” strikes me as being very suspicious. Almost as if someone wanted to quite things down? Just an opinion, I do not know that one way or another.

Hopefully that added a little something. There is much hope. Consider the merits as you will.

Welcome back Liper. And I thought I was low key and out for a while. Good to hear the news.

If all of this is true and I have no reason to doubt, he very well could be trying to amass his staff, getting all on board and committed for the final $ number. Clearly if he's discussing the $$$ for staff he must already be in motion with more than just asking/gauging interest. As calculating as he is, I see him as someone who wants every i dotted and t crossed before he inks his own signature. This way he walks in with his staff ready to go day one. Perhaps I'm thinking too big but it makes sense based on how he is and thinks as well as OG discussions with this being a deal ongoing for weeks/months.

just the fact that he has given us as much consideration as he has is a testament to his attachment to this school. Dont go gruden/hart bashing if he denies...nothing personal folks. Judge hart on his hire after a year or two

I cant believe how many pages you get behind by leaving the computer for 5 minutes! This is complete mayhem and love it!! This thread is more exciting than our football season was! lol I wonder what Bray, Patterson and Hunter are thinking right about now?

HONOR THY VOLS...CHERISH THEM...

I'm not doubting your whatsoever, but if all of this is accurate, this leads me to believe that an announcement may not come for a couple of weeks, to coincide with Gruden's timeline, more so than UT's, which is fine....so long as we land Gruden.

By the way...great to have some of the "elder statesmen" of VN come back, we've been overran idiots lately.

Post more often. :hi:

This is indeed very close^^^^^^^^^ Gruden has reservations about succeeding in college and NCAA rules

Gruden afraid he wouldn't be successful in college and worried about rules.. Sure.. There is no way that is the issue. I would bet he could coach any sport and win!

I just saw the pic BCarter posted at 1235pm in the last thread. No offense intended, as I respect BCarter as one of the most believable/reliable posters in this thread series.
But, I do not see anything in the picture that could not be set up on a few minutes notice. I also do not know how this room normally looks. It's possible that a student employee decided to have some fun with everyone by snapping a pic of this room and sending it out on the Internet.

All I see is one tripod in front of the UT/Verizon background.

Do you see the PA speakers as well...Im sure thoseare always out in a locker room too...

Edit- nevermind already posted

I am afraid hart's ego and self importance will get in the way of any decent hire.

i think u can take that to the bank...it will be his choice and he will get fired but he will have his choice in contract and we will have that coach 3-4 years. i'm hoping he gets it right. i would bet it aint gruden.
