To be honest, I didn't believe Gruden was ever coming nor did I really care either way; I came here for the fun and different conversations. The night we posted Grudenisms all night was stupid fun. Oh the memories: Pabst Gru Ribbon, Mountain Gru, and the Great Grudini (I think I just made that last one up).

If this is true, who and why was the story leaked to Chattanooga or Memphis? That would not make sense at all.

I can't say about the Memphis media, but the info was not leaked to Stephen Hargis in Chattanooga. He dug for the information. One of his sources was someone he had gotten to know over the years and was also contacted by Gruden to join his staff at TN.

Your opinion of whether is the right guy is totally cool. I was just saying that the article is accurate as far as the interest of Gruden in the coaching job, which is what a lot of people here are arguing about.

And if by honorable you mean old school journalistic integrity, then you are correct. Sadly, most "news" outlets are more concerned with splash than fact.

Sorry for the long delay in my response to this, I've had some "real world" issues to tend to.

To your last point, we agree. Journalistic integrity is virtually non-existent. The reason for that is that we (as media consumers) don't want information, we want affirmation. I guess it is a chicken and the egg conundrum; did we create the monster, or did the monster create us?

Let me be clear about my position too. I do believe, without hesitation, that there has been some level of prolonged contact between some faction in the UT camp and some faction of the Gruden camp as there really is too much data to suppose otherwise. I think reality probably falls somewhere between what Hargis is saying (in good faith) and what Lamonte is quoted as saying.
