In a vacuum, I would choose #1. Unfortunately, I've seen 5 other seasons that lead me to believe it is more #2 than it is #1. I just don't see any improvement when we play top competition.

Our non conference schedule sucked this year....of course we were 20-4...once we got to SEC play it showed exactly what type of team this was...another fraud.

Our Non-Conference RPI is 7.
Our Non-Conference Strength of Schedule is 93.

Our non-conference schedule was 9th toughest in the SEC. Hardly a great schedule but not the worst either as Arkansas (100), A&M (192), Auburn (105), Mizzou (196), and Alabama (252) put together some real crappy ones.

There is absolutely no reason that Alabama and A&M have schedules that poor. Mizzou probably has a tougher time getting decent midweek games but the other 2 shouldn't.

SEC is a beast of a schedule. 3 teams in the top 10 and 7 in top 25 according to USA Today Coaches Poll. We have been competitive for the most part in SEC games even with our better players being young.
