I'm not nearly as optimistic about it being the last weeks of the Raleigh tour. Hamilton has endured so much bad ink over the football and basketball situations, that I know he would rather not have another buyout story and coaching search in the news. The losing issue with baseball has been status quo for quite some time, so it's not really news. My prediction is that Raliegh returns for the final year of his contract, barring any big blowup with players that forces the AD's hand. He's probably feeling some heat about now, so with his track record of going off on players, there is no certainly something won't erupt. If it does, it will seal his doom. If not, I look to see him back in 2012.

this is the final year of his contract, under no circumstances will he be resigned. chris burke would work for hardly anything, if he were to get the job. ctr is history no matter what !!

You must be Burke's financial advisor since you know he would work for peanuts. What makes you think he's either interested in the job or would make a good coach?

He's interested. He also has a staff lined

Cant wait to watch, hope we can look good on ESPNU!

I agree.

The Vols will have to score early, and produce the critical hits because they are facing a amazing pitcher, and the top dog defending champs Gamecocks can score as much as the Gators.

of you devotion, but Christ Burke has never coached college baseball at any level. I don't think he has coached at professional level.

If memory serves me correct, he was playing professionally as of last year. Not sure about this season.

How is hiring a guy with ZERO experience in coaching, recruiting, and managing a program at any level be a good hire? How could Chris Burke hire an experienced staff with these guys knowing they work for someone with no experience or track record? He would be forced to basically hire other inexperienced alumni or guys he played with.

I love Chris Burke and his family, I really do but let's get real here.

It really bothers me when fans start campaigning for former players just because their alums.

Why not Peyton Manning in football? Chris Lofton in basketball?

Let's get real. Put on your big boy pants and just think about it for a moment. We need a great coach, not a past hero.

I have not seen a copy of CTR's contract, but DeerPark, who is usually in the know on these matters, has indicated that Raleigh had a 5 year deal, not 4.

My prediction for game one a close game with the Vols scoring early, producing the critical hits, and winning by two runs.
