Removing Martin was one of the stupidest decisions I've ever seen. Serrano has to have one of the worst feels for relievers. Waits too long to pull a guy, then decides to yank a guy who gave up 1 run and only threw 70 pitches. Then leaves in the guy who blew it the previous inning.
The waiting too long was every year prior to this one.
There was absolutely no good reason for it. None. And there'll be all sorts of "well, I felt that he was getting hit" and what not. Serrano made a horrible decision. End of story. And Stallings should've been yanked before that second bomb.
I think Dave was expressing his confidence in his young bull pen guys...and got burned by a youngster with a case of nerves or something. In hindsight, pulling Martin was the wrong move...but that's the thing about hindsight...it ain't worth much.
