Official Tennessee at LSU Game 3 Thread - Don't Get Swept Edition - 5 PM - ESPN3

Bad comment..we have a young but good pen that needs to develop..said it before, starters cannot go 9 in SEC games..we need our other 4 or 5 guys getting regular work.

Side note: What we do need is our rookie coach to learn how to manage a bullpen. Poor judgement on when to pull starters Friday and Saturday and tonight. Why not give a Lingo a clean full inning in the 9th? Or, how about Schult; he's been a 1 batter only for his last 4 outings and against LSU we change the game plan after he gets his 1st batter out...Vitello needs to learn how to be the head guy and manage the game in front of him.

Too many finger's being pointed at the players.

Vitello is not the one who plunks a guy on the 2nd pitch, and then leaves one belt high down the pipe. The bullpen deserves every bit of scrutiny they get. They don't come in with an ounce of fight in their body, and this garbage is the result.

You are completely correct. My point is why not not give Lingo a full 9th..Heck, Vitello mis-used him in SC but can't trust him for a full frame in the 9th?

Be honest (not just critical) but you cannot tell me Vitello didn't screw up Saturday. We fight back in the 5th to go 6-3 and he put's Stallings back on the mound without anyone up in the pen and we know what happens next. Same Friday let's get 8 runs behind before warming someone up...everyone on this forum can say what they want...Vitello is late on pulling his starters and refuses to get his pen hot early..it's poor rookie coach management.

I'm done

You can't sit here and Monday morning QB after everytime something goes wrong. TV did absolutely nothing wrong at USCe and you have been pressed many times to explain and you can't. He played it correctly there and lost it happens

Today he screwed up badly. Lingo should have started the inning clean and he should have faced more than 2 hitters. The game should have been lost with Lingo in the game the entire inning.

You don't have anything to worry about if Lip makes the play on the easy groundball hit right to him. Or makes a better throw to second on the next play. This one is all on the players. And you dont pull Neelyand putt Lingo in because Will is at 88 pitches has multiple complete games and had been pitching well, if you dont pull him in the 7th in a one run game when a couple of guys get on. you dont pull him at the start of the 9th just for a clean inning. This one is not on CTV.

What is needed is for Lingo and Schultz to develop. This isn't high school anymore and they can't just throw 95 by everybody anymore they need to learn how to pitch and not just go up there and chuck it. They don't have very good control and their command is even worse.

BV to simplify the SC game...Lingo was brought in too early regardless of the score. He ran out of gas on the back end. Your coaching savior Vitello needed to throw a set up guy between Stallings and Lingo...there it is happy..go ahead what cleaver sarcasm do you have??

In the end, Vitello is staying to long with his starters. Look at LSU tonight-freshman arm after freshmen arm which cost them 7 runs. But, they understand development and trusted there bats.

Monday morning QB...That's what this entire site is about..too include you!

It’s past time for Tennessee to show some pride! We suck! And I wonder when someone will start caring! Tennessee might be the worst program in the SEC. if not for Barnes we might be! It’s pathetic!

Lingenfelter was a starter. If he can't go 4-5 innings, that's his issue.

This is hilarious. Classic second guessing that makes no sense. Can't have it both ways.

When the bull pen isn't deep you have to win or lose with your best. TV did that at USCe and didn't yesterday. Only screwed up once not twice. Can't be both

You are exactly right. Terrible mis-management of pitchers by TN. They (coaches) seem lost as to when, and whom, to bring in from the pen. First, teams like LSU eat straight FB pitchers alive. Second, I’m pretty sure that if one FB only pitcher isn’t getting it done, the second FB only pitcher isn’t fairing any better. Also, gave them another free run earlier in the game when BS let one go through his legs....again.

I think he blew it in the second Florida game as well. Threw lingo way too long.

Hmmm so now we are mad a TV for not having a BP with specialty skills. Lol. This team doesn't have the luxury of having choices of guys with different arsenals coming out of the pen.

It's simple.

Lingo is our BP. There is no BP other than him.

Hunley is the only choice that could make it better and he is developing the best way possible.
I don't think they should change that but he's the only option

That is comical. I love Lingo....Zachpack....get it? When I lived in East TN I watched him play several times in HS and different tournaments, but right now he is struggling and if he is “our BP” as you mention we are in trouble. They are not putting him in situations to succeed, in my opinion. Leaving him out of games too long (1-2 innings in a week or two), coming in when situations don’t fit his strengths (yesterday), staying in too many innings after doing well (FL) etc. Go to the UT baseball stats and look at pitching stats. It looks like we have options. Did you see Chase Wallace shut them down Friday? Benoit? Move Hunley to the pen if they don’t think they have any options. Something! Midweek games are meaningless if you can’t win enough sec games to even make it to Hoover....right?

Glad to say I'm not a baseball fan, but I did watch the latter part of the LSU game yesterday. Only TN could go into the bottom of the 9th with a 4 run lead and still manage to lose the game. Geez, if your not careful you are going top make me think the VOLS are losers :).....
