"If you want to be a part of a big-time program with a lot of tradition, everybody thinks of Tennessee when you think tradition and all that kind of stuff, but MTSU is right there with them."
It was the sixth win for MTSU (20-16) over UT (15-17) in seven tries. The victory also ended an eight-game losing streak for MTSU in midweek games on the year.
"It's big because it's against Tennessee, but it's even bigger because that it's a midweek win," MTSU coach Jim McGuire said.
