Vols lose 2-1, the only run being a homer by Stewart, Serrano pitched well...12:50 PT start time for tomorrow, has to hurt losing to Esparza, he threw 118 pitches.

Very disappointing start to the season. I know it's early but I definitely had higher expectations for this team. The pitching has been great, but the hitting hasn't been there at all. Even when we've scored some runs, a lot of them have been unearned. Also a lot of strikeouts and unproductive outs. So far we're a lot like last year's team, playing close games where we don't have that killer instinct and aren't able to get over the hump. Hopefully things will get better.

It gets no easier though when SEC play starts in two weeks.

Serrano pitched a hell of a game and Santiago performed amazing defensively but it's a shame we couldn't hold on to that one. We need to start HITTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not ready to give up yet I am certain that they will start hitting soon.:thud:

On the plus side, great starts so far from Marks, Owenby and Serrano. On the negative, where is the offense? Like AJ in the 2 hole.

IMO Cox may have been overused last year and his arm is not the same.

Bullpen needs to step up.

Season just starting.
