Official Tennessee v. Michigan State Game Thread - Elite Eight Edition

Vols need as good or better 2nd half. I think it will take 85 points to win this game. If it's less than 80 I'll be surprised. Vols getting some good blocked shots. Defense, offense, rebounds on both sides of the ball and at least 70% plus on the foul line will do it! GO VOLS!!! The fans want to see those orange color uniforms on the court next weekend!!!

Still can't believe we are playing for final four berth! Let's go vols!

that damn announcer. "This is one area where Tennessee excels: inbounds defense."

Thanks for jinxing us, asshat.

It reminded me of this year's Bama game when that geezer Danielson cursed Lincoln saying his kick was to low in the first quarter. :banghead2:

20 minutes away from the Final 4...or the end of our season.

We can win this if we pick up the defense!!!

That's an inexcusable defensive lapse on the last possession. Otherwise, very good first half. The first order of business in the locker room should be to determine whether or not Scotty Hopson actually wants to play. His timidity on loose balls cost UT six points in a two point game. You can't have that. 20 minutes from Indianapolis.

15 to 9 rebounding advantage for MSU.

I thought it was worse than that.

There certainly weren't many rebounds available as hot as both teams were, but MSU definitely did a better job crashing for the few that were there.

If we play even on the boards in the 2nd half, we're Final Four bound.

I like the strategy of pressing Lucious full court with Goins. He's basically all they have at PG with Lucas out, so if we can fatigue him late, that could be huge.

Both teams playing at a high level in that 20... took about 10 mins for the D's to get settled, but they both seemed to settle in about the same time.

Morgan has 5 rebounds - 4 on offense. Box that man out.

He is the key to this game. He has 8 points and 5 boards. If he does that again in the second half this is MSU's game.

If the Vols clean up their game and get the loose balls, we're Final Four bound. If they continue to keep Michy State in the game, well....

The good thing is that Wayne can still get a lot more involved in our offense (in the paint) and we've been getting killed on the boards, yet we have the lead. He has no fouls, so he can get aggressive in the 2nd half.

The bad news is that I'm not sure that we can fix the rebounding problem, and if we can't, that means we have to hit 3s like we did the first half. That's probably not going to happen. We did start rebounding a bit better in the 2nd 10 minutes, maybe it can happen.

Hopefully a few of these bounces will start going our way.
