Official Texas A&M at Tennessee Game 3 Thread - 2 PM - SECN/ESPN3

Lol we had one job. Bases loaded, no outs, couldn't tie the game. We suck.

I didn't get to see any of the series. It sounds like we played well but couldn't get over the hump to win one. Is that right or am I reading the updates incorrectly?

Kids gave it all they had. Just not good enough. Credit to aTm. Better team in every regard. Hate to say it, but it really does appear the sand it about thru the hour glass on this season. I've said it several times before, but I'm really surprised to see UT baseball where it is right now at this point in Serrano's coaching tenure in Knoxville. Was convinced he'd have had us in much better shape by now. I'm a Vol fan no matter what, but my confidence in this staff has been shaken by this season.

had our chances in Game 1 & 3. With a bounce here or there we score a few more runs and take both games.

Left a lot of guys on base in all 3 games. Sometimes when things aren't going well it's an avalanche.......

very well said, Serrano survives but the off season will prove interesting......lots of discussion will be taking place by the baseball folks. Give lots of props the players this weekend, they left it out on the field.

Had a lot of hope for this season.. but yet again, more disappointment. Really disappointed in Serrano's coaching ability, what a hugh disappointing let down..

I have watched Tennessee Baseball all of my adult life and I still believe that Serrano is the right guy to do the job but this team just seems to have been snake-bit the entire time Serrano has been in charge. I'm beginning to believe that the problem may just be Bergeron. I can't remember any Tennessee teams in the past 35 years that seem to blow so many chances to score runs. He is the guy in charge of the offensive aspect of the game and that sure seems to be a BIG problem. I hope Serrano gets this ship turned in the right direction. I bought into all the stuff about the early cancelled games hurting the team but that is no longer an excuse. There is no way those guys should have gotten out of that bottom of the 8th inning without at least tying the game. Think about it, It was bases loaded with no one out after we scored the run on Stewart's single. From that point on, it was still ZERO runs in a bases loaded, no out situation. If I had to guess, I would say that 75% of ALL college level baseball teams get another run in that situation but this team seems to manage to sqaunder the chance over and over. Still love the Vols and can't wait to get in town to watch the Mississippi State series in person.

I just wanted to add that my view should not be interpreted to knock any of the players. I think those guys give their all for Tennessee and I love to watch them play. GO VOLS!

Snake-bit is correct, in the inning you are referring, UT's hottest hitter Andrew Lee hits into a 1-2-3 (pitcher, catcher, first) double play and then Rodgers who's been hot as well gets out on a well hit ball.....what do yo do?

I think it was just a few games back that we had a bases loaded, no out situation and the next three hitters went SO, SO, weak ground ball to first. I bet that our scoring percentage in that situation is the worst in all of college baseball.

I like Serrano, but I hope we don't start making a ton of excuses for poor play like we did with Fooley. This was supposed to be the year we made our first big step forward to being a contender again, and for some reason it hasn't happened. We don't know at this point, but it may be that CDS isn't the guy. By no means am I saying fire him now, but I can't deny that I'm a little concerned.

I don't think it is his coaching ability. He hasn't got the horses here yet to run with the big boys in the SEC.

And yet you only show up to post after we lose a series. I didn't see you here last week congratulating the team on winning the series against SC.

It's really easy to just drive by after a series loss and act like you have any idea what's going on, which I would bet money you've watched less than a game's worth of actual baseball from this team all year.

I'm sorry but how is CDS supposed to recruit this off season? He will not receive and extension for his less than mediocre results so why would any kid want to come here knowing whats to come? Arent we hurting the program and setting it back by delaying the inevitable here? Tennessee is not a premiere program like an LSU so it doesnt sell itself. So tell me does anyone really expect stellar results in recruiting? Does anyone truly expect different on the field results next year?

I usually don't do this but since you brought it up...one person I would say needs to go...Bergeron...there I said it. :)

GO BIG ORANGE!

I've questioned our offensive strategy many times this year but offense wasn't our problem this weekend. We just put up 13 runs in 3 games against a top team that was giving up an average of 3 runs per game.

How often do you score 7 runs in the SEC and lose?

I hear ya txbo. Can't really knock him (too much) for this series. I guess, for me, it's what I've seen through the entire season...we did get swept, though, by the number three team in the nation (I might add), and played to the wire in two of those contests. Still don't think he's the answer. :)

GBO!

We've been more anemic than successful at the plate the last few years. We had some success at the end of the 2014 season.

Maybe it's time to try something different
