Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Cardinals sat down in order again. Maybe they'll get a hit tonight.

Hawpe, Torrealba, and Sullivan coming up for the Rockies.

Single by Torrealba, sac fly by Sullivan scoring a run, sac bunt by Francis. Runner on 2nd, 2 outs.

3-0 bad guys.

The 2nd inning mercifully ends with a Carroll groundout.

Molina, Luna, and Reyes to lead off the 3rd for the Cards against Jeff Cy Young Francis.

History is being written in Denver tonight folks. Jeff Francis has a perfect game through 3 innings. He looks unhittable.

Barmes, Atkins, and Holliday due for the Rockies.

Barmes hits a triple and then scores on that braindead Caribbean Hector Luna's throwing error. Three innings in and the Rockies have hit for the cycle against Reyes. Send him back to the minors, he's had his 2 or 3 good starts.

Reyes allows another hit to Helton but forces Hawpe to ground out.

4-0 Rockies.

Time to see if the top of the Cards' order can figure out Jeff Perfect Game Francis out the second time around.

In a word, no.

Francis perfect through 4 innings.

Bottom third coming to bat for the Rockies.

Reyes only gives up one hit in the 4th, and that runner is gunned down trying to steal second. Go Yadi.

Middle third batting in the 5th for the Cards.

Um, wow. Francis still perfect through 5 innings.

Top of the order coming up for the Rockies.

...annnd nothing else.

Helton, Hawpe, and Torrealba in the bottom of the inning for Colorado.

Sullivan safe at first on left fielder Duncan's fielding error. Eye on the ball Chris, eye on the ball!

Torrealba scores, Sullivan to second. 2 outs.

Pujols doubled, but nothing more for the Cards in the 7th.

Barmes led off the bottom half with a homerun, Hancock got the next two outs and Tyler Johnson came on to record the last out.

Edmonds, Molina, and Luna in the top of the 8th.

Johnson with the rare 1-2-3 inning!

Spiezio, Eckstein, and Duncan are the Cards' last hope.

annnd that's it.

Rockies win 7-0.

Heck of a game by Francis. Complete game, shutout, 8 Ks, and 2 hits.

Nothing to speak of for the Cards.

56-42

Eckstein and Taguchi lead off with singles, Pujols lines out to short, Rolen walks, and Encarnacion grounds into a double play to end the frickin' inning. The Cardinals are on pace to strand 27 runners tonight.

You're gonna have to be good tonight, Carp. That or hope Encarnacion breaks his leg before his next at bat.

Carroll led off with a double, got sacrificed to third, then thrown out at home on a fielder's choice. Carp struck out Holliday to end the inning.

Carp gets around two singles to get out of the inning.

Top of the order for the Cards in the 3rd.
