Official Thread of the St. Louis Cardinals

Getting Reyes out of the closer role has helped everyone, including him.

Garcia continues to impress. Great signing!
Right now, that’s a great move to do. Pitching won that game yesterday, and to only give up one run was a good sign to me. Bringing in Garcia was a great move.To be right here in the wild card race, they have their own fate in their hands. Reds, Padres, Mets. I see very good opportunity to win this wildcard. They have to continue their offense.

understand hudson, flaherty may get bp innings late in sept
I haven’t heard that, but this would be great. Our bullpen strengthening will be huge down the stretch! I’m hoping that Hicks can sneak in here as well. A really pick me up for this offense, hopefully it starts with the reds tonight and beyond.

I think the reds, Mets, Padres can be beaten. I know if we play well, we can beat all three teams. We’re going to have to beat the Brewers in several games, along with the Cubs. All of these teams are beatable down the stretch. If we can do that, we’ll be fine for that wildcard spot. If we can get in there, I think everyone will be healthy, and we can take our chances to make a huge run no matter who it’s.

Do you realize that is our 1st comeback of the season after being down 4-0? Could this be the one to put us on a huge run, and never looking back?

That's actually a little sad. But that's how 2021 has been for the Cardinals. I somehow think they'll end up in the second wild card spot. Padres have an absolutely BRUTAL September schedule. Reds have a pretty easy schedule but they struggle with everyone. Phillies might be a team to watch out for but they're pretty inconsistent too. IMO, it's a bunch of mediocre teams vying for that second wild card. Whoever gets it likely gets destroyed by the Dodgers anyway.

Its unbelievable that they’ve only had one comeback like this all year, but that can tell you a lot about a team in September. I was pleased with taken 2 out 3 from the reds, and it showed that this team is coming around somehow. They’ve had heartbreaking after heartbreaking games, and still they are fighting and they actually are winning a few now even more. Health wise they are getting healthier, and at the right time. Who would’ve thought that back in June and July, that they would be only one game out of the wildcard race? Not me, even though I never gave up, except sometimes it felt like it. I think we all wanted to give up. I remember @ArdentVol saying he wasn’t giving up, and @SycloneJoe, I don’t think he was even giving up. We’ve been on this thread for a while, and I think the encouragement on this thread has helped us not give up. It sounds like you haven’t either? So I say the Padres, reds, and Phillies are in a war with the cards, and you’re right, I think the cards can take that wild card spot. I say let’s roll on, and get there first and then we can worry about those dodgers. You’re right, the dodgers will be a tough outing, but I’ll say this, one of our veterans might, just might have that pitching game that might go toe to toe with them for us a chance to win that game. We are a veteran ball club with so much pitching now.

Dakota Hudson went 5 innings for Springfield tonight. He allowed one run, two hits and struck out three. He threw 57 pitches. Shildt says his next rehab start will be with Memphis, then possibly a return to the Cards. #STLCards
There is good news on Flaherty as well. I think I heard he may be back Thursday or Friday. I also think that both are going to the bullpen this time. That will be interesting. What a bullpen we will have.

startin to believe
i always had hope
Well! You know I’ve had a couple of down times with it, but never gave up. I watch these boys every game, and setting there just pulling for something like a hit, and I may get it, I am always pulling for Yadi to get a hit or a homerun. I watch Yadi behind the plate, and I pull for him to control these pitchers, and he does just that.

With Yadi being that veteran, I don’t worry about Goldy, Arenado, nor the other ones, because I have faith that group to carry us.
