NickCarboniWBIR: Wed 12:00am Serrano: "I'll have to make a decision on which guys want to be a part of this team, and want to be a part of this weekend." #Vols

NickCarboniWBIR: Tue 11:56pm "We kind of went about it ho-hum tonight." #Vols coach Dave Serrano after walk-off win vs. UNC-A, which beat UT last year in a big spot.
At some point, the players have to take it upon themselves to play for each other. People want to use the coach as a scapegoat for the indifferent attitude of a team
More placing the blame on the players. Disgusting
Did you see what Moberg did? Did you see what Houser did? There may be others he's referring to, but he's clearly referring at least to their base running snafus. He gave them a chance to play, won't surprise me if neither of them are back next year.
I was there and I didnt see any Snafu by Moberg or Hauser. Moberg was picked off just like we have been picked off over and over again. We are crazy aggressive on the bases and it cost us again. We give up outs like the Government gives out Obama Phones. It appeared Hauser was tagged out on a double steal or he and Andrew Lee took off with a ball in the dirt that got by the catcher. I thought we were lucky that Andrew didnt get thrown out at third. AJ was thrown out trying to steal second on a fast ball count. This is coaching mistakes, not player mistakes. We gamble and come up short because we gamble too much. We have ran ourselves out of so many innings since CDS has been here, for four long years. It is poor coaching. It is foolish decision making. Its a lack of knowledge of the fundamentals of the game. Its risk taking that gets virtually no results. We have bunted 41 times this season with two outs. It has worked 4 times, (3 on errors). That is a .097 % success rate or less than 10%. Our two lowest average hitters are batting better than .097. I have probably missed a few because I am old and have to pee allot. This philosophy drives me crazy, and it just doesnt work. I have never posted on any forum, I am a Graduate of UT and a lifelong fan. I have been coming to baseball games before LNS was built. This aint working folks and its not going to work. In my years on this Earth, I have seen this attitude before. Every move, every thought and every decision is controlled by the Coaching staff but when the plan fails, its the players fault. When it works, its great Coaching. We have not had much that has worked under CDS. The Emperor Has no Clothes.
It was not Moberg, it was Rodgers. He slid into second and the second baseman did not have his foot on the bag and was called safe. He was then tagged out when he stepped off the base.
Houser was thrown out when he made a late jump on a ball in the dirt. Lee made it to third with no problem, would have beaten a throw. Houser was out from the tim ehe started running. It was a full second between when Lee took off and when Houser realized the ball was in the dirt.
It was Moberg. B9 Moberg leads off with a single, his only hit of the game. Senzel then hits a ground ball with a high hop to SS. Moberg beats the throw when he slides, and the second baseman didn't have his foot on the bag, but he thinks he's out and comes off the bag making no effort to get back on, the ump says safe and 2B tags Moberg out. The comment by the announcers was that Moberg "gave up" on the play, stay on the bag until you hear the ump make a call.
Had he done what any little league player is coached to do, we would have runners at 1 and 2 no outs...Pruett came up after Senzel and was HBP, that would make bases loaded for Stewart...

What bothered me the most was Moberg didn't seem to be very upset at himself and I think that's where CDS' comment about "nonchalant" comes in.
I agree with you on Houser and would only add, he never should have taken off, he's not fast enough.
Just for the record, I didn't come up with base running snafus, the announcers did. I don't always agree with them, but in this case there's no reason to argue. These weren't mistakes with signs, or hit and runs, or double steals...it is 2 juniors in the program making mistakes juniors should not make.
Any reports of players not in the dugout tonight??
