Official Vanderbilt at Tennessee Game 1 Thread - 6 PM

Blame coaching if you want, but Simcox, Maddox, Stewart, Price and Vjax need to show up. Taylor Smart was responsible for all 4 runs I believe, I'll have to dbl check, that...Simcox made three errors today, you can't do that and he hasn't been doing it...it's a head scratcher...

Gotta get ready for tomorrow.

GBO!

This team is falling and falling fast to the bottom of the sec. Thought serrano was the man..doesnt seem to be, you can beat easy competition, but can't stack up to the big dogs...

You're so clueless that it's amusing. Do yourself and the rest of us a favor and STFU!

I would say too with such a young teamm thats playing on the road 4 out of the last 5 weekends has a little to do with it as well

Over the last four SEC games:

Maddox is 2 for 14
Simcox is 3 for 17
Stew is 3 for 15
Price is 1-12
Vjax is 1-12

Total 10 hits out of 70 at bats combined...4 of those 5 guys are the top returning hitters.

We're really not any younger than Vandy in the field, obviously they have a veteran pitching staff...but our most veteran starter gave up six, (6) stand up doubles, he doubled his total on the year in one game.

Even with all that, we lost by two runs to the number 5 ranked team in the country...throw in the three errors, we should have lost by 10 runs, lol...sigh...

They need to find a way out or they will dig them selves in too deep, long way to go yet.

I think this young team was demoralized by the first 2 SC games. They need to learn, as Butch would say, to Snap and Clear. And Williams apparently doesn't know how to pitch with a lead, as he is usually pitching with no runs for UT. I think they will come around, just need some time. They need a win tomorrow, because they probably won't get one Sunday.

I was at the game. After the first inning, Beade was dominant. Tip your hat to a great performance by a future high round draft choice. He was better than the men in Orange tonight.

Our path to Hoover is based on our ability to win series at home, and avoid sweeps on the road. Our sweep last week put us in a rough position as far as that standing goes. Obviously that shouldn't affect our approach game in and game out, because we shouldn't look past the inning at hand. We do need to salvage a series victory against Vandy this weekend to make us one game behind that trajectory. I think that is a tall task and winning one game in a vacuum would be very acceptable. However, with the nature of the SEC this year, every game is undeniably critical. Every win we can get is huge in the final conference standings, which will likely decide who gets to a regional.

We have to find a way to win tomorrow and move on from there. I'm a little concerned about our ability to deal with a "final game of the season" mentality basically every game here on out, but hopefully we can start coming out on top. From there, theoretically it will get easier. Here's to getting the snowball rolling tomorrow!

You maybe right, but I hope this team gets their act together. . There is no reason why baseball or any ut sport should be bad.. to many resources

This team is young, especially in the pitching department well our quality pitching is young. CDS is cleaning up CTR mess which is like cleaning up after dooley in football. The SEC is the comparable to AA MILB, I would almost be willing to bet the top 8 in the SEC would finish better than .500 in any AA league, when you mix the young talent more importantly young pitching thats not going to bring much success until they are fully developed. CDS has this thing going in the right direction and he will get it done

Couldn't agree anymore. The SEC is really double A. Most 18 year olds go to rookie league.

When a college player turns pro in baseball, he should be able to play and perform at AA his first year. If not, he will not be around long. 22 is the age you normally want to be get to the AA level if you are going to have a chance at a good ML career.

4 games later.:eek:lol:

The unpredictability of baseball.
Game one a embarrassment with choking, game 2 it was vandy that choked losing in the worst possible way as vandy is damn familiar with snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, blowout win over vandy, a larger blowout win, scored early and often vs the ug dawgs and never trailed.

The valiant vols have escaped the miry slump and are in a groove playing great baseball.
