Ok, watched all of Green Bay vs Cleveland State
Couple big things against Green Bay.
1. You cannot over dribble. If you over dribble they will make you pay and take the ball away. Have to make a good decision and a good pass.
2. Make a good ball fake on everything. They were jumping everything in this game and CS never adjusted. Big ball fake and that is going to be a foul more often than not.
3. We have to shut down the middle of the paint. No easy cutters and no free catches in the high post. CS never adjusted and allowed McNeal to cut untouched to the mid-paint logo for a jumper about a dozen times. Post player is going to have to step up on that and send it to half court if she does catch there. Ideally her defender needs to bump her on the cut and make it hard for her on the catch all night. She’s not a very big or physical player. Someone like Sarah could really frustrate her with her size and strength.
4. We need to score quick in transition or the secondary break within our offense. No sense letting them get their defense set really well. They play as a unit, communicate, get their hands on passes and play the passing lanes. If we can advance the ball quickly and get it to the rim it will be 2 pts, a foul or both.
5. Our guards need to attack them off the bounce. They do not have the foot speed or size to guard someone like Spear. They don’t go very deep so if we were to get a couple of their better guards in some foul trouble it wouldn’t hurt.
