Officially excited about this team post Schwartz's positional breakdown

I don’t think I’d have VJ in our top 8 right now. Probably #9 to me after watching today. That said, I have a really hard time thinking he’ll fall out of the rotation. He’s too good for that.
Yeah it’s hard to see him logging any DNPs, but I could certainly see him having several games with 5 mins or so. Too much talent to have him out there when he’s struggling, especially when he’s not a superb defender.

Especially at the guard spots. We are DEEP at guard

In theory, this is a great idea and it’s wonderful that we are deep enough to be able to have convos about a 10 man rotation being an option. Unfortunately, history pretty plainly states that 10 man rotations will not make it very deep into the tourney. I’m fine 10-1 guys playing until SEC play starts up, but you gotta hope to have it down to 8 by then.
Florida State has done well lately playing 10

His biggest issue was recognizing when he was off, and deferring to others. He consistently tried to shoot himself out of a slump to the detriment of his own team.

if that is true it would be Barnes fault, not his. He's in the game to shoot high percentage threes. No one puts Bailey in to play defense or facilitator. Until coach takes him out or tells him not to shoot, he's gonna shoot it.

Agree. My thought was 10-11 during the season and find that group of 8-9 for the grind of March.
In the past we stick with 8-9 during the season too

Well, I'm not here to say whose fault it is/isn't, but for a team that perpetually had no one who wanted to be "the man", it's hard to fault either guy when he shows he's not afraid to attempt to put the offense on his back and try to carry the the team. 2-10 shooting nights are just part of it, unfortunately, if no one else will step up, which was the case many times, last year. He just had several of those type games.

Yep. True that. Apparently, we have more options at shooting the three than we did last year, and therefore won't have to tolerate a 2-10 shooting effort. Look at the game yesterday: Both Vescovi and Bailey were a combined 2/11 or something like that and yet we had an overall 3 pt % of 37, which ain't bad. i think I read where nine vols hit a three pointer. If we can average 40 % from three, that's the equivalent of shooting 60% from two. I'll take it any day.

According to this site NCAA Basketball Stats - NCAA BB Team Three Point % | TeamRankings.com only 4 teams in the NCAA managed to average 40% or better last year (and only 1 hit that mark in 2019). We probably can’t expect to average that high, but even mid to upper 30s on high volume would be really good

I have no doubts that Barnes will define who has earned the right to be on the floor and shoot 3’s based on their body of work.
