It's hilarious. All that secret squirrel BS and this was "his" man. Remember that this was his man, not tennessee's.

A UK fan told me, "Don't merit the big gun anymore. Just like us (UK) bottom feeders."

Time to fire Hart, Cheek, and Martin. Skeeter said Cheek and Martin are the two biggest problems. According to Ainge, we had Butch Davis with an excellent staff and Cheek stopped it. My guess is Martin had a lot to do with this. Ainge confirmed my suspensions about the AD Compliance staff not wanting to work for their pay check. We have a bunch of Nancy's in the AD and they all need to go. Skeeter has said about as much also.

MARTIN and CHEEK are the two that need to receive a lot of pressure about this FUBAR situation.

So how many points does Oregon hang on the team next year? Over or under 80? I am excited about another 5-7 season next year

We needed a Johnny Majors-like hire. UT sucked in the 70s--and then we hired Majors, who was at a fairly big program, Pitt, where he'd won a national title. He had stature--and while it took a few years he rebuilt the program. Alas, we had no Majors to look to this time, and Hart couldn't find a Majors equivalent, and so we settled for a "comer." That might be fine if this were the ACC or just about any other conference in the country. But we're in a league that had at least four of the top ten teams in the country this year. This guy better have a jock made of iron.

Never, ever concern yourself with what Bammers say or do. If TN magically stole Saban away, they'd be screaming "HAHAHA WHATEVER WE DIDN'T WANT HIM ANYWAYS, HE WAS A LOSER!".
Seriously, they're worse than UT fans when it comes to complete irrationality.

I never bought in to the conspiracy theories that Cheek and Hart (fans of Florida and Alabama) were deliberately trying to undermine UT--until now. The sheer incompetence of this coach search is so staggering, that it appears to be deliberate. Here's what we know from the media reports:

1) Hart never met with Gruden or Strong, and Cheek was the only one negotiating with Strong apparently.

2) Hart only made direct contact with Gruden's agent to confirm that he was not the focus of the search.

3) Hart/Cheek did not seriously go after or offer Patterson, Petersen, Stoops, Mora, Mullen, or even Gruden, it appears.

4) Hart apparently did nothing in the first two weeks of the search, then blundered his way forward to embarrass UT on the national stage.

I will support our new coach, but I'm disappointed and apprehensive about the future of UT football, and I suspect recruits will be too. Here's hoping for the best, and I hope we're wrong and Jones ends up being a good coach. One thing is clear though--Hart and Cheek have to go!

If this is true as stated Hart has demonstrated criminal negligence and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Who does our new AD go after in 3 years when they fire this guy?

He goes after a job as an assistant AD somewhere else. This is the only Football coaching hire he's every done, and he stumbled through the process with absolute incompetence and arrogance. He won't get another shot at any school at any level if Butch Jones doesn't pan out. The only thing an AD does that separates them from the pack of assistant A.D.'s that do their jobs competently is run coaching searches.

The problem here isn't even who he got. The problem is who he failed to get with resources he had, and the utter train wreck of process with the press, his candidates, the boosters and his own Athletic Department.

Had he hired a search firm, stayed in front of the press story, accommodated the boosters and not shut out his own department that wouldn't be the case. The result might have been the same, but getting the 6th or 7th guy on the list isn't as big of a problem if they turn you down after doing everything within your sphere of control right (i.e. Arkansas). Hart got the 6th or 7th best option after doing everything within his sphere of influence wrong.

He looks looks like a failure because he insisted on path the could not possibly end up resulting in anything but failure.

This isn't like loosing to the number one team in the country your first year as head coach. This is like losing to Kentucky when they line up a receiver at QB with a 12 play offensive package.
