It was reported that Calapari meet with refs prior to the TN/KY game and gave them their instructions on how the game was to be called. He warned the officials that he would not stand for them letting TN manhandle his players. The officials obeyed Calaparin right down to calling 4 times the fouls on TN that they called on KY 27 to 7.
After the game Calapari congratulated his referees by telling them they called an excellent game. During the game a KY player shoved Golden in the back on a dead ball and Golden objected at which time the KY players surrounded him and a face off between TN and KY players was quickly broken up and a double foul was called. TN was called for a foul on most ever play for several minutes after the confrontation. KY players of course were allowed to continue to mug Maymon and Stokes without penalty every time the ball was taken inside. The fact that KY is the better team and would have almost certainly won the game in any event doesn't alter the bad taste that this kind of home cooking by officials leaves in the mouth of the fans of the opposing teams that are faced with incompentent or just plain crooked officiating.

Was this really necessary considering the same fight is going on in EVERY thread in this forum? smh

If you don't like the discussion go to a KY site where you can the join whiners and criers about how unfair everyone is and how much everyone hates you (which we do).:rtfm:

Please note the bold print.

I did watch the game and noticed the # of fouls called on UT was a little lop-sided..But did that really happen or just a rumor??

Teague was the player for Kentucky that started the real physical stuff by shoving Golden in the back (chicken sh*&). The officials then reviewed the incident on the monitors but somehow missed the obvious infraction by Teague and didn't give him any type of foul. That is unexplainable.

i noticed that too, it seemed the refs were trying to get the game back under control but were only calling the cheap fouls on us. i understand you want to control things in a rivalry game, but if your gonna start calling hand checking and bodying call it both ways atleast. that was my biggest complaint with the officiating.

No doubt the blue is a better team, but anyone that could not see some shotty officiating is really kidding themselves.

it was a horribly officiated game, but anyone who thinks we'd have won if it was officiated more evenly is not being realistic.

No way I think we would've won, hell, I can count on one hand how many times I've seen the orange win up there, BUT, it was ridiculous to watch how hot they started out and how bad the officials sucked.

IMO that start is what did us in, the first 5-8 minutes killed us.

1. they come out hot as hell
2. refs calling in their favor
3. double T on wrong UK player
4. start calling it tight on our end
5. golden, stokes, maymon all on the bench w/ 15 minutes left

That pretty much sums it up, except there should have been a triple T...just call the third one on Teague.

Note to Cuonzo: If you see something, SAY SOMETHING!

it was actually the first time i have seen him really saying things to the ref, you could tell he wasnt pleased. it was hard to tell from the camera angle how animated he was but griffith said after the game that he was really riding the refs throughout.

That is really my biggest complaint about Cuonzo. He has to get in the officials faces once in awhile. Complaints by coaches do affect an official's calls...especially by someone as intimidating as Cuonzo.

My complaining has nothing to do with "jealousy" whatsoever..It has everything to do with a game being called down the middle and fair..It would have made no difference in the outcome but at least call it fairly..27-7 is the foul discrepancy..You can't tell me that UK only committed 7 fouls during that game..Gimme a break!! :banghead2:

Where is BigPapaCat..come on sir,help me out!!

he rides the refs believe me, he just does it in a much more subtle way than what we were used to with our previoius coach. CCM is a guy who will get his point across, and demand respect without yelling. that's is just the way he is.
