definitely not the same situation, qbs out of cali go everywhere. ohio state keeps their best overall talent in state almost every time .
Michigan and Kentucky make a living on Ohio high football talent.

Aaron Scott sang high praises for Tennessee after checking out of his visit last weekend. In checking with multiple people this week, it was clear it will be hard for any school to pull him away from Michigan or Ohio State, but one common theme was the Vols are one of a few schools in play that could have a real shot of doing so. Tennessee will have to continue to get him to campus, but he has built a nice relationship with Willie Martinez and Tim Banks.

Would love to have this kid, but it seems like a wasted recruitment. I’d love to be wrong, but if Ohio State really wants him I don’t see him going anywhere else. I wish we’d put the full court press on Obidegwu, Farooq, Banks, and Jones. Also isn’t there a stud corner out of Texas or somewhere that’s a Tennessee legacy?

Goodrich?
Yeah, but he's not as good as the other one's we're in on.

You have to try and swing with the elite guys.
So it's not a waste.

Seems like it was someone that was relatively highly ranked. He was either a 4* or had a lot of really good offers when we offered him. It could’ve been for the 2025 class though. I agree we should always swing for the fences though. I’d love to pull some magic with this guy. I just hope we don’t slow play Ify like we did Tyler Scott and end up missing out on him like we did with Scott

I would hope not either.

If it were me and Ify wanted in now I’d take him and keep pursuing Scott. Then if they manage to land him plus Jones and Boo. I’d have Jones and Goree at Safety and play Beasley at the star and move Boo to offense. That’s just my 2 cents though and I know nothing

You need to get out of this old UT fan mindset that we will only land 1 elite player in each position group per class and that top guys are afraid of competition. This hasn't stopped UGA, BAMA, tOSU and other schools over the past 10 years.

tOSU just signed three 5* WR's in the same class. UGA has two 5* safeties the past 2 years, 2 more high 4 stars, and they have two top 50 safeties committed in the 24' class and are the favorites for KJ Bolden another 5* safety. Bama seems to sign two or three 5*'s at OL, usually one 5* RB and a 4* RB, typically two 5* LB's and a couple 5* DL's every year.

This is how the big boy schools recruit and stack players. UGA lost 13 guys on defense to the draft last year and trotted out a new set of guys and continued to dominate this year with 9 new starters.

BAMA and tOSU and Clemson to a certain extent have all been stacking multiple high 4* and 5*'s in certain position groups consistently.

Hell just watching the UT boards doubt the Merklinger kid for the past few months because apparently no one would dare sit and play behind Nico for a few years is very telling about how negative and beaten down your typical UT fan is. I get it, but this is a new era. Also, most of the truly top players don't care about depth charts, most care about getting developed for the NFL, the opportunity to win championships, and now NIL. Finally, we have a staff that develops players into elite players, an improving roster that has us starting to contend for the BCS playoffs, and a good NIL collective.

We are leaders for Ricardo Jones, Travaris Banks, Boo Carter (who i think is trending to playing on offense) Edrees Farooq, and are in good shape with Fred Gaskin III as well. KJ Bolden is on campus and he's visited and liked us for awhile, so lets see how this visit goes.

Then at CB, we are in the top group with Aaron Scott, Ify Obidegwu, Chase Tyler.
