'19 OH QB PWO Michael Bittner

What's missing is context. Maurer played the majority of his minutes last fall in situations where the "D" was/could drop eight....way behind and fading. That can inflate the int's quite a bit. Don't know about this guy or Shrout.

We have a serviceable experienced QB and a pretty good stable of Young guns set on taking the starting job from him, not to mention Bailey on the horizon, so to answer your question....yes I have been watching very closely for a lot longer than the last 2 years.

So we have a "serviceable" QB. And you like that because he is "experienced"? Meets the low expectations criteria to me. Then you attempt to continue to validate your position by calling our QBxs that haven't played a snap "Young guns". Hmmm...lots of faith there. Maybe we should just stop bringing in potential depth or roster surprises to protect the current QB's on the roster.

Maybe we should just continue to let only one QB get his brains beat in because we have no o-line, instead of ruining a “Young Gun”. JG seems to like getting the crap kicked out of himself.

Yes that’s exactly what I said, do continuously look for an argument in your everyday life or just a message board ninja?

TD 16, INT 12 sounds like another QB we have

Why are a select amount of fans focused so much on a kids HS Numbers? Especially one in his first year starting and playing QB, on a bad team with no help around him. If NFL experts like him, then I'm going to trust them and Coach's over some Natural Light Drinking, Marlboro Smoking, hole and stains on their shirt fans who know nothing about talent. Just let the Coach's do what they do and us be fans and support whomever wants to play for the Vols. I can guarantee the Coach's know more than any of these so called fans who are complaining about players they recruit.

I would be shocked if he ever plays a down for us. Unless JG, Shrout, and Maurer all get injured. Next year Bailey will be here.
Shrout was supposed to have massive potential. Can make all the throws. Maurer has already said he thinks he is going to be starting in the fall. Where is he going to fit?

Competition for all leads to greatness.

Maybe my research skills are simply failing me, but FWIW I just checked again and could not find any online confirmation that Bittner has actually committed to UT.

Shrouts team played from behind a lot hence his INT numbers.

Bittner was a great high school QB. Played at a powerhouse program as well. Very smart player, athletic and a heck of a passer. I'm still shocked he didn't at least have a boatload of MAC offers. He will be a very positive influence for the program.

Bittner put up very solid numbers against a murderous schedule including Lakewood St. Edward, Cleveland St. Ignatius, Moeller and Winton Woods. Was injured on 1st drive in Lakota East game so he compiled these numbers in essentially 11 games:

Elder played arguably the toughest schedule in the country last year. They had a real shot at a state title last year IMO before Bittner's injury in the playoffs. They lost him the week before they played Colerain in the Regional Finals and they really had no chance in that game without him. I was hoping Elder would get another shot at Lakewood St Edward in the state championship game. They played early in the season last year and Lakewood won 36-30 in a classic.

WOs don't need to "fit". They simply exist. Could be a good scout running qb.

LOL.

Our QB room is in horrible shape right now. We need all the help we can get.

Dual-Threat Quarterback
Cincinnati , OH - Elder High School
Ht - 6'-2", Wt - 205 lbs

Michael Bittner, Elder, Dual-Threat Quarterback

Tennessee offered as a PWO.

I think this is the wave of the future for the quarterback position in college football. Yes you recruit your star quarterback and then you have to depend on the walk-on Types on the bench because the recruited ones will just transfer to another school were they have a better opportunity to play. Just think back to how important a lesser talented guy on the bench was in 1985 with Daryl Dickey being the emergency substitute. Yes we had the higher-rated guys on the bench in Jeff Francis and Randy Sanders, but Dickey came in, knew how to run the offense. He had a shaky start, but then led the team to some of its greatest Glory.

Really cool high school stadium with those end zone seats. Kid could very well wind up on scholly if there’s a transfer next year.

He runs like Tebow, problem is his throwing motion also resembles Tebow. I would love for UT to have a Tebow though. Just win. Good prospect coach him up.
