It's amazing that people are actually throwing out quarterbacks from Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Pittsburg and Tarleton State as guys we screwed up on.

Our current group of quarterbacks will look much better with the influx of talent and having another year in the system.

I believe they will be better too but Boyd and Petty are/were better than any QB we have had since Clausen.

I agree but Boyd and Petty have had the advantage of not playing for Dooley. Bray isn't blameless but he never respected Dooley and it showed.

Hindsight is 20/20. You can't possibly know that Bo Wallace would play as well at UT as he has for Ole Miss. He would have had a completely different coaching staff and philosophy, O line, receivers and running backs. Too many variables to just plug him into the equation and have it equal wins. And I thought he didn't have the grades to get into UT? I could just be imagining that though.

List of what? Bo Wallace signed with Arkansas State, Patton Robinette with Vanderbilt, Nick Stephens starred at Tarleton State after leaving UT. Torrace Gibson is still in high school. Tahj Boyd and Bryce Petty are the two misses but even if they had both signed one of them would have transferred since they were in the same class. We traded Boyd for Bray it's not like we traded Boyd for a scrub that lacked talent.

Too bad Bray never cared

Looks like Reese Phillips, from Signal Mountain, TN, is competing for the QB job at UK. Could be the next in line to make our ability to assess local QB talent look bad. Of course, I haven't heard anything from Voytik, the Cleveland kid who many thought we should take.

Even if he is named starter then I don't expect to see great things from him just yet. Still a young qb with no experience in the sec, unproven o-line, and very young wr's. Gonna be a struggle. Maybe in a year or two he'll be giving teams problems, but not soon.

Bray was elite.

Give him the drive and hard work attitude of Peyton Manning and Bray goes easily top 5 in draft and future NFL superstar.

Bray might have had a better arm than Peyton.

Elite? Hardly. Was he good? Yes. That's about all can be said. Bray should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Peyton.

Bray may have had better overall arm strength but that's it. Jamarcus Russell had a stronger arm than both of them.

Came across this this article. It's a few days old but it could be great motivating for not only him but them. I see this game as pivitol in CBJ tenure-more so if we lose it.

Rebels' Bo Wallace wanted to be a Vol

This is from my cell so don't know if you have to hage a subscription. I don't.

Let's be fair about this. No other sec school, including lowly vanderbilt offered this kid out of high school. The only reason he got a shot at ole miss was because Hugh freeze landed there. Otherwise, he probably ends up at a mid major. Had we offered this kid, the hue and fry would have been deafening.
Secondly, I noticed that this kid was a 17 year old senior in high school. This is yet another reason that recruiting ratings cannot be taken as gospel. To wit, most kids from Texas as 19 year old seniors. There is a big difference in a 19 year old and 17 year old and to rank them without taking this factor into consideration leads to a lot of busts and guys that come out of no where. I think it needs to be stated very clearly how old these kids are when evaluating them.

19 year old highschool students? Do they start a year later or is that just the state if the TX educational system.

Are you serious? You didn't know this? It's common place in Texas. Did you know jimmy clausen was a 20 year old true freshman at notre dame. He turned 19 in September of his senior year of high school. He would have been I eligible had he been 19 in August.
Kelly Washington grew 6 inches after graduating from high school. I would be he was 17 when he graduated from high school. These recruiting gurus need to look at the age of a prospect.

Bo Wallace is a nice guy. He'd stop by our tent in the grove after the OM game to watch the Vols play on the TV.
