Ohio State... Love Conquers All?

Just watched an interview of Day by Joel Klatt. He's still crying about losing to Georgia and that DB laying the wood to Harrison. Also complaining about scheduling by other teams with thinly viewed crying about the SEC's 8 game conference plate.

Klatt asked him what coaches around the country did he lookup to as to how they were doing things and the success of their teams. He completely ignores SEC coaches and Dabo, who have whipped him, but named the coach of Washington, Illinois, and...Mr 65-7 himself, Sonny Dykes. LoL!

Pretty much a prick.
Is perpetual whining a Big10 thing - “their cleats are too long, they hit us too hard, they don’t play enough conference games” et cetera ad nauseam.

As to scheduling, OSU plays their share of crappy teams every year, but the ones they play are conference games.

Shall we revisit ancient history?

Putting a first time coach in charge of one of the biggest football machines in MODERN college football is not a recipe for long-term success.

Some have done it. Most aren't up to that kind of challenge. Ryan Day won't be. He's only been successful because the B1G was a two team conference and Ohio State recruited itself.

With expansion, Day will be exposed. He's not that good of a game coach and he'll prove to be an average recruiter vs Nike money and Riley's smooth talk.
No one outside of a handful of coaches are truly a sure thing.

Correct. And there are very few sure thing top 10 college football programs. Ohio State is one of them. They could have or should have been able to hire from an elite pool of coaches after Urban.

As much as I dislike Alabama and Ohio State, they're extremely well put together businesses when it comes to college football. When Saban leaves, the candidate pool for that job is going to include names that are "there's no way we could get him" for most programs.

Did Ohio State pick from that elite pool? No. IMO, that's dumb.

There’s a reason Michigan has passed Ohio St and it certainly isn’t recruiting.
