Gee was awesome, incendiary and good at what he did; I will miss him deeply.

the only way this is great is if he didn't get a dime on his way out, but we know that POS will get a big check. pathetic. he should have been fired then given the option to retire.

People these days are sissies.

Yeah, that's it. Ohio State, which sits right in the middle of a state that still has a heavy Catholic influence, would like nothing better than to infuriate both a good percentage of their fan base and their recruiting base.

In Ohio, Division 1 is the largest, and has had at least one Catholic school in that state championship game in 19 of the past 22 years. Division 3 is normally won by a Catholic school, and is notable because the Columbus-area Catholic schools all slot into Division 3. Out of our 6 divisions, only D-2 doesn't have at least two traditional Catholic school powers.

Catholic schools tend to dominate Ohio sports. Wrestling? 13 straight Division 1 titles for St. Ed's, with a Catholic school winning the D-1 title every year since 1977 with one exception. Basketball? Nowhere near as dominant, but always contending across all divisions. Baseball is the same story.

The other thing is that there are options in Ohio. Kids can be born and raised Ohio State fans, but it's possible to go anywhere else in the Big 1G without too long of a drive. And if they're not good enough for that, we have a ton of other options nearby.

In short, the chances that Ohio State would keep someone who had just alienated a core support group (fans, students, and recruits) was simply zero.

Catholics need to learn how to take a joke. It's that simple. Most of those Catholics are Notre Dame fans anyways! This is a not an issue. Just a bunch of butt hurt.

No, it's not a question of bashing Catholic/ND fans; it's a question of not acting like you're an a**hole.

Try to act like you weren't brought up in a barn, even if you were. (There's a lot to be said for faking it.)

If you have an issue with someone's ethnic/ religious/ whatever origins, the way it works is you go home at the end of a long-ass day and say about someone, "What a moron." You don't say it on some sort of electronic forum that saves the quote forever and a day; you say it among your family and possibly your friends to express your own personal view of the latest sh*tstorm to hit your life.

I grew up in a multi-cultural society, and that's what we occasionally did at the end of a long day, and I know for a fact that that's what my friends did at the end of theirs as well.

Maybe so, but that's the world we live in. If you're going to make dumb comments in the position he's in, then you're probably going to be looking for a new job.

Everybody does it. I live in one of the most diverse cities in the country, and its basicly a massive ghetto now. I kinda stopped caring about people's feelings. I also don't care about race or religion unless its shoved in my face. This is still not an issue compared to many other things. I don't think the Catholic church is innocent either. That's a bigger issue than Gordon friggin Gee.

What did the idiot say? I bet we all said worse. We live in a society of hypocrisies.
