This is a very strong possiblitiy if WVU loses to UConn or Pitt and Kansas/Missouri lose in the Big 12 championship.. i would like to see an SEC team in the title game, i would hate for one of those weak Big 10 or Big 12 schools to win the title

If Tennessee beats Kentucky today, it will eliminate any chance (and it's awfully slim to begin with) of Georgia playing for the national title.

You can't finish 2nd in your own division and get a free pass to the national championship game...especially with a loss to South Carolina on your resume.

Darnit Duckman, you beat me to it. And to make things worse, that Nebraska team got drilled by 26 to Colorado and still made it in over the Buffs.

No TWO lose team will play for the NC!

I see what ur saying but if Kansas/Missouri winner loses in the Big 12 championship and WVU loses another game then UGA would move right up there in the rankings with OSU because they wouldnt get jumped by any other two loss teams behind them... going in to today there are 4 teams with one loss or less and two of them have a good chance to lose today so that would leave Georgia, Ohio State and Kansas/Missouri in the hunt for the national title

There is something bad wrong with a system that can put a team that does not even win it's own league, in a NC game.

If Kansas has 1 loss come that time, they'd be in over Georgia.

I don't think so. A loss would mean they didn't win the Big 12, and possibly not even their own division. With their weak schedule, 1 loss will definitely keep them out.

If the Jaybirds want to play for the national title, they'll need to be undefeated.

But, I do agree, that they could still be ranked ahead of Georgia...just don't see them having a shot at a national title with a loss.

i was just thinking and it is probably a huge stretch but if west virginia and missouri lose in their conference championship games then does georgia have a shot at playing for the national title w/o plying for their conference title and having 2 losses?

They made a rule after Nebraska went in 01; anyteam that does not play in their conference championship does not get to go to the title game. Sorry Bulldog fans

ok i heard them talking about this last year but if this is a rule why were they talking about michigan going to the national title game last year if the didn't win there conference championship? was it because the big 10 doesn't have a championship game? And say Tennessee beats LSU as well as west virginia and missouri both lose who would be the next team 2 be in the championship?

OU vs OSU

Chris Landry was talking about the rule on the radio yesterday. I also heard it mentioned during the UT game that Georgia could not play in the title game if they didnt win the SEC
