Oh ya has anyone ever seen a SEC coach go on TV and poke at another conference after they beat em. Just asking because I havent and well Ohio should be atop that list is they did. LOL

OU is a very good team and is likely to win. But their first two opponents were in the lower tier of CUSA last year with a combined 7-17 record. Both ECU and N Texas beat Tulsa worse than OU did last year.

LT was 4-8 last year. They beat an FCS team. The combined win total of the 3 FBS teams they beat was 4... as in 4-32.

Again, OU is a very good team but be careful gauging how good on the first two teams they've beaten this year. UT was tested by much better mid-majors in USU and ASU.

It's a tough row to hoe, but I think it will be a great opportunity for our young guys to see some talented opposition and have a chance to make some plays. The ball will definitely have to bounce our way to have a chance, but the experience will pay dividends in the future.

We're gonna have to win or we'll lose. Just another game nothing riding on it, counted as a loss as soon as it was seen on the schedule, and has no bearing on our standing in the SEC. Folks with nothing to lose can be dangerous. Enjoy the game and quit stressing. UT's got this.

I gave the OP a like for knowing the difference between "dominant" and "dominate".

You should be proud of your deep knowledge and superiority. Too bad you probably learned " dominate" from your cousin kissin' and tellin' about your sister.

This is what gives me real hope. That, even though they know we're a better team than their first two opponents they won't be mentally ready for how much better athletes we have. If we can take early advantage of that possibility it will be a barn burner. Go out get 10 or 14 points within the first 3 drives to keep it close or have the lead at the end of the 1st qtr. Rattle their QB & shut down their offense, take the crowd out, ... we've got a fighting chance.

I like this - this seems possible. Go Vols!

Aren't a few of their key players out for the game?

Looked like our best CB, Sanchez (Freshman AA last year) might have hurt his shoulder against Tulsa, but he's ok, will practice all week and will play Saturday. One of our backup DT's, Walker, has a knee strain and will miss the game. Everyone else is healthy.

Yeah, they beat two duds. They beat them by a combined score of 100-23. I'd expect a team like OU to average 50 points on them. So there is plenty you can take from playing lower level opponents like them. If they had barely won, or if they had put up less points, you might have a point.

I can remember when Tennessee played Notre Dame, an
obviously dominant football team at the time in South Bend, Ind. Notre Dame was pounding Tennessee to the tune of something like 34-0 at the half. Notre Dame was clearly the better team. However, Tennessee got it together in the second half and came back to beat Notre Dame something like 35 or 36 to 34! Contrary to popular belief, Tennessee beating Oklahoma in Norman is not impossible!!!!!

Hard to read the early season OOC games and draw comparisons without common opponents. The first half performances against LaTech and Tulsa were exceptional. LaTech had 25 yards of offense at the half, Tulsa had 90. Our offense was well over 300 in each. Stoops usually goes vanilla in the second half of early games, and frankly, I was glad Tulsa score didn't end up 52-21 like last year.

What I can tell you is this OU squad has opened up stronger against lower level competition than any OU team since 2008 and 2003. The strengths of this team are the OL and DL, two-deep starters at most positions and a bunch of potential AA's and first-team all-conference guys with size and speed on both sides of the ball. There's a different pace and finish with these guys so far, Knight is now 8-0 as a starter and is getting better with each game, we have a running attack which we haven't seen since DeMarco Murray, and the defense has fully implemented Mike Stoops' 3-4 defense after running it for a last year and through 2 games this year.

The key, I think, will be in the trenches - can your young and very talented linemen hold their own against our bigs on each side of the ball. If you do, and force 3 and outs, turnovers, and on offense are able to get a good push, it'll be a close, good ballgame. If you give Knight time, he'll make a throw or scramble (best running QB we've had since the wishbone days). If your OL can't protect, our DL will get to your QB in a big way. Let's hope its a clean, injury-free game, and everyone has a great time.
