Okie State QB to transfer Wes Lunt

For future reference, all NCAA news unrelated to Tennessee should go in the 'Around the NCAA' subforum.

BC or Illinois could be possible landing spots

He showed some skills. Was there off the field issues or attitude problems with him?

Looks like he wasn't happy about losing the starting QB job at spring and decided to transfer. Could also be a matter of he and Gundy not getting along. More likely a mixture of both. All speculation of course.

Yes I am aware of this, however I was not sure if there was any interest to or from TN, and beside that's what mods are for. Gotta make them earn their keep:neener:

Seriously though, I am very uncertain about our QB situation, and wouldn't mind taking a shot at a talented kid for security reasons. I think Dobbs may come in and win the job, but he is a freshman and expectations should be kept in check.

His former OC is HC at Southern Miss.

Could make sense to go there, but I think Gundy rules that offence.
Lunt's quotes from an ESPN interview: This was not a decision I took lightly, but it is a decision that I felt was right for me," Lunt said in a release. "I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to the entire Oklahoma State University community. Specifically, I would like to thank the coaches, players, and the whole OSU football family. I wish the Cowboys the best of luck in the future."
Gundy quotes: "We appreciate Wes and we thank him for everything he has done," Gundy said in a release. "He's leaving on good terms and is making this decision based on what he thinks is best for his future."

Stats from last season.
Wes Lunt: CMP 81, ATT 131, YDS 1108, CMP% 61.8, YDS/A 8.46, TD 6, INT 7, RAT 137.3.

Keep in mind he only played in 4 or five games and was a freshman. I think it's worth a phone call, but hey I'm not a coach I trust Butch. Just worried about our QB situation, as it is the most important position imo

When a kid does a transfer does another team call him about coming to their school.. Think he already has his mind where he wants to go?

I would think he has a good idea of where he wants to go if he has decided to leave. Only reason he lost his starting spot is because he got injured. Another kid took over and did well. It happens all the time. His numbers show he can play good football against good teams and at a high level. He did so as a FR so that says a lot. Do I think CBJ considers him for the Vols? I do not. You take another QB with 3 years to play with having the 4 guys we have with multiple years to play each(plus CH) and you could forget about a QB in the 2014 class. Taking a transfer at QB now would do nothing but hurt the battle we have at QB going on now.

Man, he has to be careful writing his last name.

We have a walk on QB from Ga named Frerking and just signed a WR from Katy named Fulks. If they ever score on a spectacular play the message board should read, "You were just Frerking Fulked". :hi:

Once he is granted his release he can be contacted. Most coaches will give the player a list of schools he may not transfer to as a condition for ganting the release though. My guess is that So Miss isn't on the list.

@schadjoe: Former Oklahoma State QB Wes Lunt is considering Southern Miss, Illinois, Louisville, Tennessee and Vanderbilt.

If by some miracle he goes to Vandy I can't wait to see how James Franklin spins it into a win for Vandy over Tennessee.

According to the Insider, somewhere close to home is where the kid wants to be with Illinois and Southern Miss being at the top of the list--SM because the OC Todd Monken is the HC there and a former OC at Oklahoma State.
