Thank you for stating that. OU will be appealing that vacating ruling.Actually they're not forfeiting anything. They're vacating the 05 season. If from what I've read is correct, they lose the wins, but keep the same amount of losses.
05 should become an 0-4 season.
ITs a crock to have a team vacate wins. If I were on the 05 team and someone asked me what our record was in 05. Im not going to say 0-5 Im going to say 8-4. Then if they said yeah, but you had to vacate those wins in 05. Yes, but we played them and we won so I know what we did. Its total crap. And 2 scholarships wow that hurts. I dont think so.
The article referenced here had the record with eight less wins and four more losses (from 86-19 to 78-27). However, the article now on ESPN's frontpage has Stoops with 8 less wins, but the same number of losses (from 86-19 to 78-19). If they are forfeiting, then I would say that the record would be 78-27. If they are vacating, then I would think it would be 78-15. Otherwise, they only vacate their wins but keep their losses - which is weird.
If they vacate their wins but not their losses - does that mean if you lost to Oklahoma, you get to take one loss off your loss column (but not add anything to your wins). And, if you beat them, then you keep your win? I guess the math would work out if they did it that way. It is just weird because they really aren't vacating the whole season if you keep the losses.
Edit: The articles are one in the same. ESPN has gone in and edited their original article to reflect a record of 78-19 instead of 78-27 like they had before. The question is...what happens to the 4 losses? Do they stay as losses?
Maybe if you read the entire report instead of what the media says you would get it right.Exactly. And it's not as though it was a conference or national championship season. Who cares? I think they got off way too easy. As I said earlier, they send kids to this dealership to "work" every year. If they didn't know what was going on, they sure should have known. And don't tell me bomar and the other kid are the only ones over the many years who had that agreement. How is this not a lack of institutional control? The ncaa has one set of laws for the powers and another for the dregs.
Yours should. No program in recent memory has gotten more hype for accomplishing less.
