KNOXVILLE.......absolutely. Myself and four friends (actually, 3 friends and my oldest son) have made it sort of a tradition to pick one OU away game a year that features a traditional program to attend. We went to Alabama in the early 2000's, FSU IN 2011, WVU IN 2012, ND in 2013 & we plan on making it to Knoxville in 2015.

It's a weird group because one guy went to Texas (oops, so did my son), and one guy actually played @ Mizzou. My best friend (OU grad) went from 1988-2000 w/o ever missing an OU game, home or away. We are first and foremost college football fans. Three of us are life long OU fans. The group ebbs and flows in terms of attendance because if the Horns are at home on the date of the game we pick, the one guy goes to Austin. My son has lived in London for the past 5 years and he flies over for whichever game we pick.

What makes this work is the fact that OU always has one big time non-conference opponent so we're pretty much assured that every other year we have an opportunity to go somewhere. We had a home/home with LSU set but the Tigers backed out because of the potential 9 conference thing but now that it's 8 plus a major non-conference opponent, I expect that to happen later. We replaced them with UCLA & we have TOSU & Nebraska coming up.

I have always wanted to see a game in Knoxville. My Godfather, Waddy Young, was OU's first consensus all-American and he played in the Orange Bowl vs Tennessee at the end of the 1938 season. He was a B-29 pilot in WW11 and his plane went down over the Pacific. I never met him.

As far as engaging in honest dialogue, that is what I try and do. I love OU but for the sake of an honest exchange of views, it makes no sense to me to engage in the usual forum hyperbole.

Ok so I've lived in Oklahoma since I was 5 and have had this game circled for as long as I can remember. All of the tickets online right now are about $160 and up as far as I can find. My question is, are there still more tickets that are yet to become available either through Tennessee's ticketing services or OU's? and if so, will they be any cheaper or are the prices right now about the norm since it's two high-profiled schools?

You're doing it right...like the Oregon posters from last year...this college football thing is SUPPOSED to be fun and interactive...might see you up there...you'll be the Sooner clad fan WITHOUT a sloping forehead right? :)

I'll be the old F'ER with the drool coming down my chin yelling "Boomer" on cue.

OU prices are set. When you have 75,000 season ticket holders discounting is not an option. On line will depend on demand.

We are about to announce a stadium upgrade and expansion that will put us @ 90,000 which for a school and state population is probably about right. We have about 15000 on the season ticket holder waiting list. Our consecutive sell out streak isn't as long as Nebraska's (who's is) but it's probably 14-15 years long.....as long as Stoops has been here (1999).

Owens. One more question if u don't mind. It looks like Kameel Jackson may walk-on at UT if his grades workout. What can u tell us about him or maybe just ur opinion on if he can contribute here?

Nothing for the Vols to lose here... it's not like we're respected again, yet.

He was a 4 star WR recruit in the 2011 class from Arlington Sam Houston. Arlington is where Jerry World is located. He was a Texas Top 100 recruit. Ran a 4.45 in H.S. and at that time was listed as 6' tall and weighing 198 lbs.

He actually started a couple of games for us when we had injuries to Ryan Broyles and Jaz Reynolds respectively. He was suspended along with three other players after the 2012 season. each player's suspension was related to a different issue. While suspended, he tweeted that he was transferring to T A&M. Prior to fall camp in 2012 the other three were reinstated but Jackson was dismissed. From what I can surmise the issue was related to academics.

Obviously, he was considered a top prospect and his playing time would tell one that he can succeed at the highest level of college football. If he has matured, I would think he has a real chance to contribute to your program.

Thanks for the info Owens. Hopefully Jackson has got his issues straightened out and is ready to go

Not to sound self-serving but a game @ Owen Field is a bucket list item for college football fans, as a visit to Knoxville would be as well.

When we played UDUB @ home a few years ago I ran into a few guys from Seattle who had made the trip and they couldn't believe that they could stand in line in front of a bar on Campus Corner and get an autograph from 3 Heisman Trophy winners.....Steve Owens, Billy Sims, & Jason White. They were doing a promo appearance for the bar.

The fans here are very gracious and welcoming. Of course, there are always a few ass-hats but overall we get rave reviews as hosts.

I wish I could be optimistic about our band. Our pre-game has been rated #3 behind Michigan and TOSU but a new band director was hired last year and his short tenure has been highly controversial. The Pride of Oklahoma is a past winner of the Sudler Cup but this guy has really damaged the product on the field. He came from Wisconsin and he has tried to make us a junior version of the Wisconsin band. Everyone had hoped he'd be canned after last year but apparently he's back for at least one more year. A lot of politics involved and it hasn't set well with the fan base.

Please note, no OU fan refers to the stadium as Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.......it's Owen Field.
