I’ve questioned heard’s effort quite a bit but he never gave up last night. Promising to see him fighting in the 4th.
I’m hoping he’s just battling an injury and will play better when healthyIndeed. May need to let him know he can take the season off elsewhere next year. We have 4* OLs all over that sideline. Guarantee you they could grade out higher than Heard. Dude is has flat out stolen from us. Lazy and uninterested.
I agree. Just think the good and bad deserve recognition. Heard has a high ceiling, maybe higher than anyone else on the o-line.I noticed that live when it happened but the issue here isn’t ability - which he has. It’s consistency. And that goes for not just Heard but all of them including Mays. None of them have been consistent. Last year the OL problem was depth. People got hurt and we didn’t have the 2’s to keep it going.
This year I don’t know what the problem is but they are not consistently playing well together. Nico is missing open receivers (when they actually get open) because he has one eye on the o-linemen that’s about to fail his responsibility. That’s my comment on Nico. I can’t imagine how difficult it is to have as little experience as he does and be on this stage and perform at an elite level when your focus is on the DL and whether he has 2 seconds to make a decision or a little more if he’s lucky. If we want to see Nico reach his potential, he needs an OL that grades at better than an average of 57 across the board.
How many penalty yards was Campbell responsible for last night ? Maybe 35? Possibly more. On top of that he’s pleading his case to the official and it makes matters worse.Campbell playing average at best and getting so many stupid penalties is the worst part of all that. Its expected a redshirt freshman is going to struggle against SEC talent.
What’s not expected is that a 7th year senior is going to whiff on blocks, get numerous drive killing penalties, argue with refs when he is LITERALLY on the jumbotron with his hand inside the opponents shoulder pads, and getting personal foul calls after the whistle blows.
Maybe and then some of the criticism could be withdrawn. However, from what we’ve heard about his agent and how involved he seems to be with all things “Heard”, I can’t imagine he wouldn’t tell his client to sit it out till he’s 100%. Could be totally wrong, but he seems like a micromanager of Heard.I’m hoping he’s just battling an injury and will play better when healthy
