Old Half Court Logo

I've not been to ask many basketball venues as I have football but our arena is top notch.

I have been to see some perennially good programs (Kentucky, Xavier, Cincinnati, Ohio State, etc) and our arena completely trumps theirs.

No offense, but nothing is perennial about those three programs. Their facilities are nowhere near the league of a "perennial" program.

Its kind of funny, you can't always equate facilities with the status of the program. Dook, NC, Kansas, UCLA, (and others) are all blue blood programs but play in old, small, sometimes run down dilapidated campus gymnasiums/arenas. Other schools such as UK/Syracuse/Memphis play in large privately/corporate owned arenas.

Thompson Boling Arena is a great place to play and watch a game, IMO.

Of course Kentucky has already started their due diligence and planning for the new Rupp Arena downtown, now that Louisville has finished their new arena. Can't let little brother win any battle. It will be so state of the art I wouldn't be surprised if you will be able to have cancer cured while at the game.

There were some Kansas players that said Thompson Boling was the nicest arena they've ever played in.

But yes, I liked the state of Tennessee at halfcourt. UNC has their state at half court. Maybe we could incorporate the Power T in there too. Like have the state in orange and have either Tennessee inlayed in white letters, or just to the power T in there in white at halfcourt.

I like the new look better, though I don't care for "The Summit" being on there all the time.

I always thought the state outline at midcourt was kind of dumb.

Who's with me??

I'm with you, n2motorsports. Having the state outline on the court was great. The new center court blows.

By the way, wasn't the justification for switching something about recruits not knowing what team they were watching? How idiotic was that?

Personally don't have a problem with the current look, but I liked the state outline too.

I liked the state outline on the floor over at Stokely mostly because I remember Michael Brooks hitting some shots from Johnson City on the map. It's interesting to think about what kind of career that guy would have had if there had been a three-point shot back then.

I'm for getting rid of calling the court The Summit. It's cheesy and looks bad for mens recruiting.

you could be on to something,I would be for renaming the court after another coach wins over a 1000 games and hangs championship banners everywhere at TBA

You can still have the state outline on the court and recruits still know what game they're watching. On the scorers' table at half court does it not say "TENNESSEE" or "VOLUNTEERS" most of the time?? I don't buy that argument.

I like the new floor, don't get me wrong. Just wish we could have the state outline back. It was classic!

As a pure college only arena, not many places top TBA. I'm torn between the old center court logo and the new one. I like the Tennessee state outline, very classic, but the new floor is good too. Maybe we should change it up every once in awhile.

I like it the way it is. I also think having the state outline at center court is too much like UNC. Not only are they the only major school I can think of that has that on their court, they are an adjacent state. You can't look at East Tennessee without filling in North Carolina and vice versa for Western North Carolina. I know it is traditional, but it hasn't been used in a while and I just think it would look dated now and like we are copying UNC to those who aren't familiar with the old style. Also, I loved the orange seats, but I think they should stay in my house since I bought two of them and leave the black ones at TBA.

i think the state logo at center court sucks. the big power T is the way to go. the way it is now is better than the state logo... but i think it looks feminine. our arena is never gonna look as cool as many others until they let the students sit close to the court all the way around the court... or at least allow them to fill up the side opposite the cameras. it's really the student crazies that give an arena awesomeness.
