“College” football is almost over(thankfully) and I can enjoy a little college basketball before it goes off the rails, a la “college” football has and then we can sit back and enjoy some real fun, blue collar, amateur athletics, when Tony VOLtello and the boys take the diamond!! Man I can’t wait! How many more days till first pitch, so ready for baseball, kinda miss seeing the Troll Train coming through on game threads.![]()

I feel the same way. Yesterday had a very different feel to past Tennessee bowl games. It was basically just a chance to preview some of next years team, just another game. Completely different from let’s say the 96 Citrus Bowl where it felt like the sporting event of the year for the Vols.I’m hurt MAD! College football has put a dagger into my heart. Gone are the days of guys like Dale Jones, Johnny Majors, fight, fight, fight, the Tennessee walking horses, marching down the field, the Sugar bowl...
Now it’s just a bunch of damn mercenaries for hire!
I was certainly expecting a closer game. To bludgeon Iowa like that caught me by surprise. Future is bright!I feel the same way. Yesterday had a very different feel to past Tennessee bowl games. I'm curious if the bowls will go by the wayside once a true playoff is in place. The other games won't mean anything (not that they do now) and viewership will decrease. The attendance for these games was eye opening. The economy may have something to do with that.I feel the same way. Yesterday had a very different feel to past Tennessee bowl games. I was so surprised to see the whole upper deck empty for a Tennessee bowl game in Florida.I'm curious if the bowls will go by the wayside once a true playoff is in place. This is exactly what I’m talking about. The bowl games no longer care about attendance, that just icing on the cake now. All that matters is the almighty sponsor and tv dollars, which trumps ticket sales. I get it, I really do, but I do t have to like it.I'm curious if the bowls will go by the wayside once a true playoff is in place. I missed probably the first 5 minutes of the game, my wife and I had an opportunity to go out for a kidless lunch.I was so surprised to see the whole upper deck empty for a Tennessee bowl game in Florida.
