One evening last week I went to my work shop to tinker after supper. Wife asked what I was doing. I just blank look stared at her. She said you were just getting away from me weren’t you? I replied with another blank look.
September will be 29 years of wedded bliss.

Stuck at home with COVID.
Thought to myself; Hey! let's watch the White Sox.

SO, it's math time.

White Sox have hit the 100 loss mark with 31 games remaining.

Losses: On the season long pace of .237= These NO-GO SOX will finish at 38-124. Four losses more than the Expansion 1962 Mets for the MLB record.
To avoid the loss record held by the '62 Mets, the Sox would have to finish at least .372 (12-19) in their last 31 games. And that would still make them 43-119

However, with recent win percentages. the White Sox are looking at 125 or 126 losses.

Winning Percentage: The .23664 winning percentage would place then only behind Connie Mack's 1916 Philadelphia Athletics at .235 (36-117 in 153 games). The A's won the pennant two seasons earlier and had to sell off many of their bet players.

With the 162 game schedule, the Sox would break the record unless they get more than 7 wins in last 31 games (.226)

Run Differential: the Sox are currently at -276 and are on pace to finish at -341. (-2.107 runs per game)
The 1932 Boston Red Sox hold the current record at -345 and the 1915 Philadelphia Athletics are second at -344.

The last time, I did the math, the NO-GO SOX seemed somewhat safe from breaking the record. I think now they break the record. An August 12th 12-2 win over the Yankees is the outlier that puts them out of #1 right now.

To break the differential record, the White Sox need to be outscored at -2.23 runs per game in the last 31 games. Even with the 10-run win against the Yanks, the Sox have been outscored 2.35 runs per game in August and 2.68 runs per game in July.

It's more likely that Chicago will break the record than they w

June was the Sox best month as they went 9-18 (.333) . In the almost two months since, the Sox have only 7 wins (.156).

Chicago is now through three games of a 10-game home stand.
1 more game vs. Tigers. 3 vs. Rangers 3 vs. Mets.
6 on road with O's and Red Sox.
6 at home with Guardians and A's
6 on road with Angels and Padres
3 at home with Angels
3 to finish at Tigers

Speaking of the Tigers.
the Sox lost their first game to Tigers.
The Sox lost their 100th game to Tigers.
And since they play the final series, will likely give them their last loss of the season.
