This Nico thing, what a mess. They can’t pay him anymore, when is it going to end? They have got to get contract negotiations set up. I heard USC wanted him, they can have him. These players’ family and agents are out of hand. If any of this is true, how can he come back? Talking about locker room issues! NIL is ruining college football, well college sports in general at this point.

IDGAF. Its out of our control. Nothing we can do. Let it be. Don't read anything else.
What will be will be. We will have a QB this season regardless of what happens here.

Truth is, all we know for sure is he wasn’t at practice today. Go get your’s kid, but his team mates and coaches may not feel that way.

Yer right, if UT caves, where does it end for the schools?

I’ll say this and then I’m done, because I can’t stand where we are with college athletics and where we are headed.
I love professional baseball and football but college football, basketball and baseball are a passion!
With that said, I’ve really been enjoying local middle school and high school sports, more and more...

Smokies new stadium looks really nice.
Tickets for a game in August are $18.
I understand those players to be professional ballplayers who are only there as long as they perform well enough to not get cut, or perform so well that they move up. Then I get to watch them play in MLB.

I am o.k. with that. I am a fan of minor league baseball. Glad to have plenty of it in my area - Charlotte, Kannapolis, Greensboro, Durham......
When those those players move on, that is what they are expressly trying to do - move on up. College kids threatening bailing every 4 months or so on their teammates and coaches? That crap is crap.

Wonder how wonderboy QBs would feel when the Left Tackle decides to quit on 3d and 8 so said LT can prove his worth, and the DE blindsides the QB into oblivion. All for a "negotiation" that is good for the player. Don't quit on your teammates. If Nico truly is skipping practice as a negotiating tactic, CUT. HIM. LOOSE.

As for The Smokies, that’s more my speed financially, I love UT baseball, but I can’t swing it.

Sadly, what it will end up with is my lack of interest in going to football games. I can't stand it when Tennessee fans boo the Tennessee players, but if Nico goes down this road, he will deserve every single boo he gets for every single mistake he makes. You can't be 20 years old and make more in your college career than the people paying to watch you play make over their entire lifetimes and expect to be treated with respect when you lay an egg on the field.

It is sad. I wasn't ready for that level of scrutiny when I was 20. I can't imagine many of them are ready for it emotionally. But here it comes. Just look at how members of this message board are turning against him. Hope the greed is worth it to the young man; it wouldn't be to me.

Edit: I guess I am also really pissed about this because of all the reps Nico has stolen from players this spring who might actually WANT to be QB for Tennessee. That has put me over the edge. Paying players is one thing. Holding a coaching staff and team that has trusted in you hostage after spring practice is BS.

I will add...he has, or had, a chance to be one of the greats in Tennessee lore....manning, majors, shuler, warren, ainge, clausen, robbinson, Holloway, kelly, hooker, dobbs....and I know I'm leaving off some from the list....point is....if you're loyal, like the fan base is, you have a job when you retire...and dinner and drinks will be paid for. Man, what a lot of us would give to be that fella.

Just wait, middle school and high school will be infested with this too. More and more states are allowing NIL to middle schoolers now.
