Ole Miss changes

I don't think after their string of bad coaching hires they would go after a fired coach who has baggage. Did you listen to the guy call our Memphis game last year? It was like he drank 10 beers and took some xannax. I still have it on my dvr might watch it tonight. :)

Charlie Strong will be the next head coach at Ole Miss...just saying...

Peyton Manning. Just kidding, in all honesty, some names that have been thrown around initially (in no particular order);

1. Leach
2. Skip Holtz
3. Kevin Sumlin
4. Charlie Strong
5. Hugh Freeze
6. Kirby Smart
7. Butch Davis
8. Butch Jones
9. Gus Malzahn
10. John Chavis (I really doubt he is a legit candidate though)

Leach would be a good fit for Ole Miss. He has the kind of charisma and experience working with a mid-level kind of program that Ole Miss needs now. The football he'd put in place would also energize their fanbase.

I'd also take a close look down the road at Fedora at USM. He's put in a lot of work at Southern Miss and the results are showing.

Fulmer would be good there..we need to get houston nutt as our OC..he is a great offensive mind..:)

I don't see Fulmer coming out of retirement. There have been other jobs that Fulmer has openly campaigned for including Virginia and Texas Tech. I think he has just about resigned himself to the fact that he will not coach again.

My insider tells me Dooley to the Fighting Brown Rebels. Hunter and Bray to transfer.

More to come.

What the hell does this have to do with Tennessee football?

With that said, I would call Hugh Freeze, Kevin Sumlin, and Rich Rod.

Your list with my comments:

1. Leach Sure
2. Skip Holtz Nope #1
3. Kevin Sumlin Nope #2
4. Charlie Strong I don't think so
5. Hugh Freeze Eh...
6. Kirby Smart Nope #3
7. Butch Davis I don't even think Ole Miss is that desperate
8. Butch Jones Hmm....
9. Gus Malzahn Nope #4
10. John Chavis (I really doubt he is a legit candidate though) Really? Really?

The four Nopes there are gonna get paaaaid at their next job. I don't see Strong leaving a similar rebuilding process at UL to get curbstomped by Bama and LSU when his toughest games are gonna be against Boise State and Cincinnati.

Leach is a possibility. Hugh Freeze is a Dooley-kind of possibility. And how much further can Butch Jones go?

Hugh Freeze has a very strong connection with Ole Miss and is partially responsible for Ohr going to Ole Miss. He is doing pretty good things at Arky State an would not surprise me if laned at Ole Miss. He will have the support and Mempis fans are kicking themselves silly for not hiring him when they had the chance.

Agree about Hugh Freeze. Sumlin will probably be taking over A&M after they fire the Shermanator.

Freeze is about to go 10-2 in his first season at Arkansas State. They're 7-2 currently with losses to Virginia Tech and Illinois. If they lose again, it'll be this Saturday to UL-Lafayette (coached by Mark Hudspeth, another future SEC HC, IMO). This is ASU's first winning season since it moved to FBS, and it's first winning season overall since 1987. Not a coincidence...

Memphis made a HUGE mistake not hiring him when they had a chance.

Also, one of the Ole Miss coaching search leads is an executive VP at FedEx. Fred Smith, CEO of FedEx, is very fond of Freeze and even had Freeze serve as a speaker at some FedEx events. So there is going to be some real interest there. Plus, the fan base knows of Freeze and I think they'd be receptive.

I really don't know if he'll be hired, but I'd be willing to bet he'll be a finalist.
