Why do coaches continue to go coach at Ole Miss? It's the least attractive coaching job in the SEC next to Kentucky, imo.
The issue with Ole Miss is that the older (age 60 and up) part of their fanbase remembers when they were winning national championships and even the middle aged part of the fanbase can remeber when they were winning SEC championships. David Cutcliffe did a great job for them but when the team slipped following Eli's departure, they instantly determined that Cut cannot recruit and hired Orgeron to replace him. They have money and MS is talent hotbed, at least compared to TN. I think that they're still searching for the next Johnny Vaught.I agree it is not a top tier SEC job, but worse than MS State and Vandy? I find that hard to believe.
The reason they keep coaching there is because you get paid close to 3 million per year and all you have to do is get Ole Miss to a New Year's Day bowl kind of consistently to keep the job.
