Unless the 'AA gives him a show cause, he isn't going anywhere. Even if he is suspended for something like 6 games, they are going to keep him there.

Which just strikes me as insane.

I mean, when they hired him after the Oher stuff it was pretty obvious as to why. He was either the useful idiot willing to look the other way or an active participant in what the OM money/bag men wanted to do.

Is being either one of those worth going all in to keep him?

They view him as the best they will ever get...... Ever. Not saying it makes a bit of sense, but that's their thinking

There is a reason they self-imposed. They think that is all they deserve and will fight tooth and naill against any further penalty...and will probably succeed against the joke that is the NCAA.

NO................ The best they ever got was Cutcliffe ....they brought him in to get Eli.

He apparently was too straight for them.
