Ole Miss vs Bama

No clue why Kiffin abandoned the run on that last series.

That entire second half was an absolute disaster of play calling. Grandfather made adjustments at halftime, and junior's brain froze. Same ole Kiffy. Always the bridesmaid, never the bridge.

YellaWood just blocked Kiffy's cell #

There was no reason to do anything but put the ball in the hands of that RB on the final three plays. He's the best player on their team and when that's on the line, you let your best player get it done.

One 10+ win team will get screwed and have to go to the Citrus Bowl

Maybe. It depends on the situation.

  • 1-2 will got to the playoffs.
  • 1 is guaranteed to go to the Sugar Bowl
  • 1 potentially goes to the Orange Bowl (if there’s not a higher-ranked non-playoff, non-Rose-Bowl Big 10)
  • 1 could potentially get the Cotton Bowl’s lone at-large spot (presuming there are no more higher ranked teams above them at this point).

(But I do think it’s more likely for that last one not to happen after going down through all those other parts.)

I’m going to miss Kiffin’s trollish put downs pointed at the other team tonight. I bet he saved some special ones tonight. Too bad they were wasted.

If OM would have kicked a FG early in the game, they could have tied it on the last drive.

On the plus side, Dart is still young and will deadly after a second and third year with Kiffin

You think he will follow Kiffy to his next job? Maybe this meltdown will lower his stock and he has to stay if this kid is lucky.

I mean not sure why Dart would transfer from Ole Miss with 2-3 years left since Kiffin also has 2-3 seasons left at Ole Miss minimum.

You really don't think Kiffy is lobbying behind the scenes for some of the open jobs and would not bolt if given a shot?

Kiffin is likely waiting out Saban at Alabama. Not saying he'd be top of their list, but when Dabo and Kirby say no thanks to the job, Bama will panic.... Kiffin would be a decent hire for them. Especially if he keeps winning 9-10 games a season at Ole Miss.

Not so sure... Maybe, but Saban ejected him before the big games that year and have to think that was due to fear of his character impacting his coaching efforts. Guessing his input will be asked for by the money guys as he exits. It would be one of the few absolute destination jobs you might feel safe in him not looking elsewhere, so who knows. My anti Lane bias is what it is and it is permanent.

Saban sending Kiffin away after the Semi Final vs Washington caused him to lose a natty.... The Natty vs Clemson was Sark's first game calling plays and he made a lot of boneheaded calls at crucial times.

The problem with Bama in the Post Saban era is they will want someone who is as close to him as possible. Now there isn't another Saban out there, but the closest 2 coaches to him are Dabo and Kirby. Kirby won't come at all. He's at his alma mater and has a beast going. Dabo ain't leaving Clemson for Bama. He built the Clemson program, has 2 natty's with 4 appearances. There is no money advantage between what Bama could pay over Clemson. Dabo taking that job would need to win 3-4 titles to get out of Saban's shadow.

So when the 2 closest to Saban coaches turn Bama down, they will have to start looking at second and third tier coaches. At that point, I fully expect Saban to have a hand in the hire. Kiffin and Saban have somehow grown from an icy relationship.

When you look at who is left out there, who else would have some familiarity with Bama and Bama have familiarity with them?

Ryan Day, Lincoln Riley, Brian Kelly aren't going to leave current jobs for Bama.

So if Bama has struck out on their first and second tier candidates, who else is left that would be a strong hire? Insert Lane Kiffin. Especially if he runs off a few more 10 win seasons at Ole Miss where the all time average is like 55% win rate.

I don't mind Kiffin anymore. But he clearly has fell upward a bunch. I would not be surprised one minute if he ends up at Alabama. I think he is best suited to turn down the Auburn job, if offered, and roll the dice by waiting at Ole Miss to see when Saban retires.

I think he’s his own analytics guy.
I remember watching them play Tennessee last year and they kept showing this guy on tv as the analytics guy, who looked nothing like the type of guy who would be an analytics guy. He always had this expression on his face like he really needed to take a dump.

You are free to forgive him for the totality of his exit from UT, but I doubt I ever will. I was not happy when he hung up his USC memorabilia in our buildings, and I am old and value character. SO, when he and his staff used UT phones on their last day of employment at UT to call about a dozen students already on campus and instructed them to not attend classes the very next morning to keep their flexibility and not start their UT clock, after we paid them for a year to get them here, he (they) earned their place in history. I differ with you, Saban also had trust issues with Kiffin and I would guess his successor thoughts will filter to the money guys and AD about the replacement path upon his retirement. Are they going to ignore their GOAT? A LACK of support`is all it should take.
