How high up Floridas list will he be with 4 losses this year? If any brains whatsoever existed in the UF athletic dept they would be looking long and hard at Cignetti. Thankfully he has the sunbelt label too so they will hire some can of corn , without Sunbelt experience , maybe Kiffin.

Problem is they don’t care about football currently so making a name hire would surprise everyone.

As to what Kiffin does for his future, I think it just depends on what he cares more about in his life right now.

If he values job security most, it’s an easy call to stay. He has that in spades at Ole Miss.

But if he wants any shot at a championship I think he has to go to a bigger job. There’s only so much you can do at Ole Miss and I think he’s just about peaked. This was supposed to be “the year” if there was ever going to be one. They were a top 5 preseason team. But I just don’t think it’s ever happening there.

If I were Kiffin, I'd stay in Oxford and wait until Bama tires of DeBoer. He's almost certain to be on the interview list even if he's consistently average at Ole Miss.

Of all his dream jobs, Alabama is probably the dreamiest for him.

Only question I would have would he receive Saban's blessing because you know they'd come asking him.

I think Nick signs off on Kiffin now. A few years ago, maybe not. While Nick might hate the portal and NIL so much that he'll quit, he surely sees what Kiffin has done with it at Ole Miss.

That's the selling point of Lane Kiffin now. He's savvy enough to wring the most he can out of the portal. Is it sustainable? Likely not at Ole Miss but possibly at Bama.

We'll see what Ole Miss does from here and FL looked a little less hapless against us and with the admin issues in Gainesville, Billy might survive another year.

If Ole Miss players detect Lane just going through the motions with recruiting and the portal, they'll check out. He works the system hard. If he's not, he's gone.

I argue the opposite. Last night was imo the proof that he isn't the guy at Florida. Of all the coaches I've seen at FL, he's by far the one who seems the most clueless. They dominated the first half and had 3 points and his clock/timeout management was just horrid. Especially that cluster at the end of the half that cost them 3 points.

I think pretty much every other bad FL coach in my lifetime would have won that game.
