I get what everyone here says about his inconsistencies but anyone who thinks we are better off with our 3rd big being Estrella or Phillips is crazy. Those guys are not near as strong and athletic as Nkamhoua. Plus you get the occasional 20 pt game from him.
We would not have signed one of them had ON stayed. Like the young man, but we really needed a roster turnover I think.

Nkamhoua shouldn't be receiving all the slander in here. He got his degree/participated in Senior day and wouldn't have had a roster spot for his COVID year. Amicable split and he even made the trip to support the team when they scrimmaged @MSU.

Agree. He played 4 years for UT. He just didn’t take a 5th (COVID) year option in Knoxville. He sat behind the team during the Michigan State exhibition game.

I appreciate what he did here but feel it was best for both parties for him to move on. His incinsistency was infuriating

If he proves to be more consistent over this season, what conclusion do we draw from that?
A few options...
1. Howard utilized him better than Barnes.
2. More playing time and a larger role as a go-to player led to more consistency.
3. In that same idea, less consequences for poor play because he was a necessary player led to less bench time.
4. Using this "last opportunity" as a greater sense of motivation for his professional career.

He’s probably their best player. But they’re also 6-6 and wouldn’t be in the tournament if it started today.

He can have a role on a good team. He showed that here. But a team where he is the star player isn’t going to be good.

He is a fine player. I would not have had a problem with him returning. But he moved on and Tennessee recruited well to take his spot.

This and the fact that Tennessee had moved on from him for the better of the program longterm.
Developing Aidoo and Awaka and bringing in Estrella and Phillips was more important than giving an inconsistent player minutes. He'd be guaranteed minutes leaving as a recruited transfer. Same went for Uros.If you're not good enough for your college to bring you back for the "covid year" what makes you think an NBA team would want you?
Vescovi and James are great leaders and im glad theyre back, but I do wonder at times how their presence effects our younger players.
