I think Spurrier misses the old rivalry with TN when we were good.

In the 90s he used to really get under my skin but I have to admit he has the best sound bites of any coach in the country.

As for the rumor... No way he leaves SC. He doesn't have too many years left and he just got them rolling. Why would he leave to rebuild anther program so close to retirement?

Just kidding around, based on Steve's history with QBs. Was it in Columbia or does he do camps all over? Best camp I ever went to was Fulmer's camp. I was a freshman in HS and Al Wilson was in my group and Lovie was our DB coach. It was the same week that OJ made his notorious Bronco run with AC. Great memories of football camp.

It was at their practice field. He has been to several college camps and for the most part the head coach usually welcomes everyone and then you might see them at the end. Steve did his speech at the start and then breaks the kids up into position groups. My son went with the OC and I thought that was the guy he would be working with, however Spurrier was the coach that worked the entire time with the QB's.

Yeah, he does. Grew up in Johnson City but we didn't offer him a football scholarship but Florida did. Terrible mistake.

He doesn't hate UT and he was offered a scholarship. But at that time UT was running the single wing and that didn't suit his style of play.

One of the best Spurrier digs ever:

As the coaches were filtering out of their meeting room and waiting for an elevator, a reporter informed Spurrier that Kiffin, albeit jokingly, had said earlier in the day that he never got an apology from Spurrier about questioning whether Kiffin had taken the recruiting test.

Spurrier sighed, slumped his shoulders and then wheeled around toward Kiffin, who was standing about five feet away waiting on the same elevator.

"I didn't accuse you of cheating," said an animated Spurrier, motioning toward Kiffin, who stood there with his face reddening by the second.

"What I said was, 'Was it permissible to call recruits before you were announced head coach and had taken the [recruiting] test?'

This is hilarious.

Spurrier has it made at SC. He gets to coach at a place that doesn't expect him to win a national title, and he has a membership to Augusta as a part of his contract.

We can't give him that.

Wonder what he'd say to an honorary Beaverbrook membership? Haha.
