15pts 18rbd 7/11fg 2fouls

That's the effort he needs to bring every night. He's not a 6'9" ultra athletic big who's gonna stretch you to 15 and take you off the bounce, making it easier to beat double teams. He's a big ole boy who needs to learn how to use that butt and hips to move people where he wants. Will he get some shots blocked, absolutely, but fight for the loose ball and go right back up.

He rebounded tonight the way he should every game, atleast effort wise, he should be a double digit rebounder. He can get 4 or 5 put backs a game like he did tonight, whatever light came on tonight I hope it stays on.

And for those that missed it...post game stokes went out of his way to thank martin for HAVING HIS BACK, and was very "appreciative".

Effort and wanting the ball was the number one thing I was looking for. He can get. 6 rebounds barely trying. It takes wanting the ball and the refusal to get out hussled to grab 18 boards and only have TWO fouls. When is the last times we've seen "Jarnell and Two fouls" for the entire game in a stat line?

Moral to this story when Zo tells the refs to step their game up they do it, now if Zo can keep getting on them is a different story. Stokes was a man today.

Crash the boards and let the game come to him, and effort effort effort. Been saying it for awhile, glad he finally read my posts. Lol Seriously great game by Stokes, keep it up big fella.

If we had anyone that could pass worth a damn, stokes had people pinned all night, especially after he got going a little.

Spacing the floor is still awful. When he gets doubled teams it's usually when another post player is standing right there. He flourished in the 4 out 1 in offense. Can't double team with players on the three point line.

I hope Martin takes note that down the stretch there was very little Kenny, lots of stones and a whole lot of 4 guard lineup. We should be running 4 guards the majority of the time from here on out.

Golden
Moore
McRae
Richardson
Stokes

Is the lineup I really liked. Get Reese some minutes at the 4, Kenny some minutes at the 4 & 5, and let McRae run backup PG.

Golden 25/ McRae 15
Moore 30/ Mcbee 10
McRae 20/ Richardson 20
Richardson 10/ Reese 20/ Kenny 10
Stokes 30/ Kenny 10

Staying out of foul trouble and being able to play 35 minutes was very good to see. Great game for him today.

Looks like he is in slow motion most of the time, he needs to get pump up, got the talent needs to use it.

Stokes got a big steal at the end of the game. That might be the quickest I've seen him move. If he brings that energy every night then McRae has someone to help him out. Need one more consistent scorer and they can win some games. Golden still does some mind numbingly stupid things.

You can't teach speed. With the experience he is getting facing double and triple teams. He and Maymon will be fun to watch next year.

Next years team will be very fun to watch. I can't wait to see Hubbs and how well Maymon bounces back.

I think that the "light [that] came on" was the switchboard light in the SEC offical's offices earlier this week when Coach Martin had a little conversation with Gerald Boudreaux. That may have been all that it took to loosen up things to get Jarnel going.

Post players, by definition, need somebody to get them the ball to be effective on offense.

The biggest problem with Stokes IMO is that we have nobody on this team who knows how to make an entry pass into the post. The guard is just as likely to have it stolen or batted out of bounds as he is to successfully get the ball to Stokes.

That doesn't explain the disappearance of his jumpshot (supposed to be respectable at the very least coming into UT) or his inability to make FT's. He needs to work those problems out, and he also needs to continue to learn to deal with double teams (he made a few interior passes to Hall that I really liked tonight). In the meantime, it's really difficult for a post player to dominate when his teammates aren't able to get him the basketball.
